Has anyone tried the 220 Beggs with 75gr bullets. I was wondering about what velocity I might expect. No I'm not interested in the 6mm Beggs, I want a shorter alternative to the .223 Rem. and the .222 is not short enough for what I have in mind.

75hpbt match with a case of aa2520 almost makes 2900 fps from a 21 bbl

what are you looking for.....someone actually shooting heavy ?

or just numbers ? 2.10 oal, 23 gr in a 220 russian case.

i only shot at 2700 in my 223 ar...tho otheres went hotter...like 2900 fps

I'm over 3000 with 80's in the .22 PPC so I suspect that you'll be in the 2900+ range. Try RL15.

Rory, running the numbers on QuickLOAD with the 75g Berger in a 26" barrel, 24.8 g Rl-15 (100% load density), gives 2990 fps at 54,300 psi. COAL is 2.200".
The 220 Russian and the 220 Beggs should have the same case capacity.

As you would well know this is theoretical.

Loads

Yes,
Theoretical loads. I am looking toward my next project and 220 something looks like the way I'm learning.

jerry and i, both used the std 220 russian operating pressure, and everyone knows that the ppc versions have normally been run somewhat higher.....so in a proper rifle i would suppose there is more velocity available. i used the std mag length bullet and the amax is a better choice, loaded long gives more case capacity.
