22 rimfire accuracy problem

I have an Anschutz 54 with a heavy Hart barrel. It shoots acceptable groups at 50 yds., (about .200").
The problem is that it shoots 2 small groups, about 1/2" apart. One slightly higher and to the left of the other.
I have been using Tenex, but have gotten more or less the same results with other ammo.
Is there some obvious problem that I don't know about, or should I use it for a jack handle.
Anyone who has run across this problem, I would appreciate any suggestions.

How does the series of shots group? Random? 1 and 2 high, 3 and 4 low, etc?

Longer/shorter period of time between shots affect placement?

Rest set up

Nice star pattern at the muzzle?

Does the bullet engrave when chambered?

Did you have the Hart installed, or did it come with it?

Just some things to think about?

Very likely you are exactly right. The bedding job is pretty hokey looking. I have avoided doing anything about
it because I am lazy and it is a time consuming job.

Pretty much random. It came with the barrel. Obviously though, it was installed by someone.

Yes. I changed it today. Too windy to shoot, but I'll try it

If you check the length of your Tenex you may find that the 'longer' ammo shoots higher than the shorter stuff.

The difference between the long and short Tenex is just over .0015" (which is enough for a flyer if you have a match chamber).

I also shoot an Anschutz M54 1411 and discovered this when I made a gauge to discover why I was obtaining the odd flyer.

I measure from the inside of the rim to the top driving band.

If bullet seating/jump is so critical for c/f benchrest accuracy then why not rimfire? That's why tuners are so effective with rimfires, they compensate for ammunition variations.

To minimise the variables is why I made this gauge. My scores have improved.
