Hi Guys
I have just started reloading for a sako 22ppc and are wondering what the maximun case length is and what the length to trim is?
Also the only brass i can reliably get is laupa 220 russian. Is it okay to just full length resize the 220 russian brass then load and fireform whilst using the rifle for hunting and then when i have shot all the cases i have fireformed i guess i will have to work out a new load again.

Any help greatly appreciated in advance

jjason: Before trimming your brass to any "suggested" length, and possibly trimming them too short, take an accurate chamber length measurement for your ( emphasis on the word "your") chamber. If you have the availability of the Sinclair chamber length gage ( approx. $7 US Dollars), you have the ability to determine your length. A lot of chambers are as much as .030" to .045" longer than max case length, so, if you are trimming back to the suggested .010" shorter, you are creating an even longer "gap" in front of your case mouth where the ring of carbon will build-up. I've measured and recorded the actual chamber lengths of all my chambers, and trim the brass to .010" shorter. And yes, I am using Lapua 220 Russian to form the 22ppc brass: have never had a problem.

I believe that VV has available online info for reloaders the trim length should be there.

Thanks for the info, ill order one of those sinclair gauges first thing monday
