With the planning and announcement of several sanctioned regional events, we would like to propose that scores from these matches become the first United States Postal Championship. We are planning to award medals for the top 3 places. Match directors, your input is requested.

Well all matches be run under the same rules , ( ft/lb , rifle wight , not leaving bench etc .) and what class of rifle well be used , well it be a 3 cards seat different than a class shoot ? ????

Each of these regional/state events are run at the discretion of the individual match director. There may be various differences in what rifle classes will be used. The common elements will be the distance, target and scoring procedures. There will not be a team aspect like the World Postal but like that event, it will open to any rifle class based on shooter choice.

The World Postal format is a "one class" event. The shooter chooses a LV or HV rifle to submit his score. This maximizes participation and satisfies the legal issues some countries have regarding power. It also has a team component where each country can have 3 teams compete.

So, a couple of questions have been raised regarding the 2013 United States Postal Championship.

1. Should this be a "one class" event, best score from LV, HV or USA Open/Unlimited or should awards be given in several rifle classes, then, which rifle classes?

2. Should there be a team component where the top 3 scores from each regional will become an aggregate team score and promote inter-regional competition?

Shooters and match directors, please give your opinions. Thank you.

US Postal Championship

Hi Steve and felloe competitors,
You asked so here is 2 cents worth from the Northwest on the upcoming US Postal Championship:

CLASSES VS INDIVIDUAL - To keep competition as fair as possible, I suggest 3 classes, LV, HV and Open. Since we're shooting outdoors, the OPEN class rifle has a distinct advantage over an LV class rifle. This would mean 9 prizes/ribbons/certificates.

REGIONAL TEAM ENTRIES - For this, our first US Postal Championship, I would suggest only MENTION on the results page, not prizes for class teams. The number of additional prizes for 3 class teams of 3 per regional would be cost prohibitive unless an entry fee were determined up front. NEXT year, separate prizes and entry fees could be determined in advance. Or, run a separate REGIONAL TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP Match with separate entry fees. For this year, simply give mention to the regional class team champions.

NUMBER OF ENTRIES - Again in the interest of fairness, competitors are restricted to ONE entry PER CLASS. You CAN shoot a different class at another regional, if desired.
