2012 Postal Information

Apollo

Jason Stanley
It is that time of year again. If you are interested in shooting in the 2012 100 yd Score Postal go here: http://www.bench-talk.com/
There is a Postal button on the right side. Click on that button to see all the rules/classes/entry dates etc.

The entry fee of $65 must be sent to Steve by March 1st to get into our drawings. Some fine vendors have already sent us some nice prizes and more are on the way. I will make a post with the prizes and update it when new ones come in.

With that $65 Steve will send you enough targets for 5 aggs. You can win prizes and money in each of the aggs. If you're not sure you want to shoot all 5 aggs, you can send in $17.50 and Steve will send you enough targets for 1 agg.

Last year, we had (total) over 80 shooters and gave back roughly $3,500 in prize money in the 4 classes (VFS, 6X, MF, F)

The 2012 shooting season is right around the corner. Steve and I hope everyone has a great one.

Here is a not-so-quick answer to “What’s a postal tournament?”
For a complete set of rules and entry form go to:
BenchTalk.com and click on the Postal button.

The Postal Tournament is a 100 yd score rifle competition. You send us $65 and we mail you 25 targets (IBS 100 yd). There are 5 bulls plus 1 sighter on each target. Each target is a match. There are 5 matches per agg. 5 aggs for the tournament. Side note = if you are not sure you want to do the whole tournament, but still want to try it, you can pay 17.50 per agg.

There are 4 classes. VFS, Hunter/Varmint Hunter(6X), Modified Factory, and Factory. You do not have to have Benchrest type equipment – just shoot what you got.

Each agg is due back by a certain date. You can pick when you shoot your targets.
Targets for Agg One must be postmarked no later than Tue April 24, 2012.
Targets for Agg Two must be postmarked no later than Tue May 29, 2012.
Targets for Agg Three must be postmarked no later than Tue July 3, 2012.
Targets for Agg Four must be postmarked no later than Tue Aug 14, 2012.
Targets for Agg Five must be postmarked no later then Tue Sept 18, 2012.

“What happens to my $65 that I pay in?” What you pay in goes back out (targets, certificates, prize money, awards, postage, etc). Steve and I do not keep the money.

Speaking of that: There are lots of great prizes and awards. To be eligible for prizes, you must pre-pay by March 1st. In terms of awards, we try and do something different each year so, as of now, we really don’t know what the awards will be. Last year we did certificates, plaques, and badges. We will figure that out and let you know before the 1st agg is due. There will be prize money given back to top finishers in each class. Last year, we paid back roughly $3,500 in prize money.

Benefits of shooting the postal.
1. The “excitement” of competition without having to drive hundreds of miles
2. If you prepay – you could win some awesome prizes
3. Gets you in contact with some of the best shooters in the nation.
4. Chance to win money 5 times per tournament
5. You get to truly find out what you and your rifle can do.
6. It is a great learning “springboard”
7. Some “seasoned” competitors use it for practice for the larger tournaments.
8. It’s just plain FUN ( even more fun when you get a shooting buddy and shoot
at the same time)

Just a quick reminder - you have roughly 1.5 weeks to get your application to Steve to be elgible for this year's postal drawing. Deadline is March 1st.
If you have any questions - feel free to ask.
