2 Groove barrels

Has anyone here messed around with a 2 groove barrel in the .224" bore? Adam

So I take that as a no.

Well then is there a correlation between L&G's and accuracy? Is there any reason I shouldn't get one? Adam

Three and five groove barrels show more promise than the 2 groove. I know RFBR use the two groove almost exclusivly, kind of supprised they aren't as accurate in the .224" bore. Adam

2 groove barrels were used on some Springfield 03`s......30-06`s...... quicker to make I would guess.... they do shoot cast bullets well...

I don't think you will find almost exclusive use of 2 groove in RFBR. In my experience they are relatively rare and only one barrel maker I'm aware of makes them. But I could be wrong as I've not been as up to date for the last few years.

Benchmark barrels are the one that comes to mind in RFBR, Satern barrels is who I want to make one for me. Cut rifled, 10" twist.

I just figured it would have been tested, I really thank you all. Adam

Actually 2 groovers are rarely used in RFBR these days, they faded a few years ago and most now use 4,5,6 groovers.

My opinion is that 2-3 groove barrels can work well with cast or lead bullets, but when smaller caliber 2-3 groove barrels are used with copper jacket bullets the heavy lands distort the bullet jacket geometry and accuracy suffers...if you are considering a 2 groove for rimfire it might work OK...I would advise against it for high velocity jacketed bullets..
