Hi,
There are a few 'Internationals' on this forum who are interested in how things are going with our new 1,000 yd range we have just finished constructing here in Brisbane. We had our first feature match here a week ago.

If you go the the Aussie 'Benchrest Bulletin' website (the link is below here), choose 'Forum' and then in the forums go to 'Longshot Louie' and see '1000 yd Championship, Brisbane'. You can view some pictures (two lots) of our range and the people at the match. At the end is a link to results and equipment lists which Annie has just put up.

It was a 2 day match plus a practice day. We all had a lot of fun as you will see from some of the photos. A real mad hatters day! :D

Stuart Elliott.
ps. When you go to the results page you then need to scroll down to the last one which says "ASG 1000yd championship"

Looks like a nice range and one where some good shooing should be done.

Looking at the photos, it appears to me as if there were some beautiful conditions. The flags are hardly moving. Yet, looking at the groups and scores, it looks like a tornado must have hit while you guys were shooting? What happened? A 4 target 12-1/2" agg wins HG?

I know from previous threads here that there's good guns over there so something doesn't add up here.

It isn't the meanest B**** of a range in the world, but it's trying hard for the top 10.

Conditions are generally light as the range is enclosed by timber either side. As a result, the flags seldom react with any consideration to shooters' needs. For that matter, the mirage is inclined to conceal its intentions, so much that between them, they lie barefaced about what's happening enough so that (now everybody's finished laughing), I lost my first counter for the weekend off the paper! This all comes about because it's pretty warm here most of the time, so it doesn't take long for the eddys to build up as the little cauldron warms in the sun.

Then you have the problem that there's a lot of downhill to the targets & shooting points built up every hundred yards, so that the mirage can be lifting you one minute, then slip & stumble the next, depending on how it's hitting the ground as it rolls along.

Yep John,
Could not have answered that better myself. Looks can be deceiving can't they!:D

Who said life wasn't meant to be easy? Still any day burning powder is better than a day at the office, eh?

Stuart,
Good to see you and Annie still having a good time shooting. I just looked at some old pictures of you at Hawks Ridge and at the Ohio 1000yd Club the last 2 times you visited us here in the states.
I see Annie hasn't lost her touch on the trigger either!!

Best of luck with the new shooting club!

Until our paths cross again... keep'um small and have fun.

Steve,
Good to hear from you again. We will be back at Hawks Ridge again one day. Just a bit busy with our training business and Annie's new Shooters Supply business right now. Maybe 2010.

Still we are having a lot of fun now we live in Brisbane. This range we have helped setup has great facilities even if the wind is fiddle. Still any day burning powder is better than most other things!

Why don't you guys come down and visit?

Stuart

Stuart & Annie,
Great range and a great looking bunch of guys and galls - glad it's all coming together for you guys.
Hey - what's 7mm Jacko?
Cheers

Vince i believe it is similar to a 7mm Booboo but with a 40 degree shoulder.
