For the first time in many moons we had a 100 Meter Score match here, in VA!

Despite frigid temperatures and a threat of snow, we had 28 shooters/guns on the line.

The wind was variable but manageable with a little patience. Mirage was a bit tricky when the wind died down.

Without any further delay, here is the list of the top 5 shooters:

1st Henry Vranian 250-23X (tied HV record)
2nd Hal Drake 250-22X
3rd Adrian Van Gorder 250-21X
4th Adrian Van Gorder 250-19X (tied LV record)
5th Tom Lighton 250-19X

Congratulations to all the winners and especially to Henry and Adrian for tying the World records! Way to go, great shooting.

On a personal note, I would like to say how proud I am of my husband, Adrian. Great job, Honey! ;)

Many thanks to K.C. and his gang for a well run match. You've done it again!

For all you shooters who haven't made it to Black Creek yet, come shoot with us, this is one of the funnest matches we have in Virginia.

Well I had a feeling it would go like this. Cold days yield less than ideal conditions for the most part, in my experience. Although there wasn't a hard blow, it was a bit tricky at times, as was evidenced by the scores. Deano had a shot at the LV record going into match 5 with 16X's, but came up with only 2X's. Dave, your record is still safe. It was a fun day, and all of us thank KC for putting on his first metric match. Hopefully there will be more to come next year...:D

I guess I should have differentiated between LV and HV. The record for HV is 23Xs and for LV is 19 Xs. Adrian shot both resulting in 21X for his HV gun and 19X for his LV gun. Tom was shooting HV.

What was the temp? It sounds like some folks loads may have been allergic to the cold.

Were Herbie & Kim there? I figured Herb, Dean, and Adrian (among others) had a pretty good chance.

-Dave-:)

Forecast was for a high of 47...never got close to that. By the time Wayne and I got up the road a few miles after the match, it was snowing. Anyhow, the usual suspects were there, but Herbie's a bit of a fair weather shooter and didn't adapt to the cold too well.:p He don't care much for Kim whuppin' up on him either, so he put the jinx on her before we got started. What can you say about Adrian? His wife has taught him everything he knows, and he doesn't listen to much. He's just lucky she keeps dragging him along to all the matches.:D

Dave, Herbie and Kim were there, Herbie tied the record also w 19x. The temp started out in mid 20's and came up to the mid 30's, the conditions didn't look to bad but it was squirrelly and a little change was worth a lot. The condition was shootable but you had to be on your game and most folks weren't. Blackcreek is usually pretty honest but I think it was infected with some Fairfax demons this time. I posted an account of the match on the general discussion page, ever since Wilber moved it I end up in there by mistake every time, Old habits and all that, Steve PS Hal someone is looking for you on the general discussion page also!

One thing that made the day tough was when the wind died the bullets would fall out the bottom. It took me a while to figure this out.
