Got my single shot action last week. Took two old test barrels that were fit to my Turbo. Had to lenghten the tennon to fit the 10x. This left quite a large thread relief cut in the barrel. It sure didn't hurt these barrels as they both shot better on this action. Going to put a new barrel on it next. This action is a winner.

In reading the the paper they sent with it. One point is that the firing pin is long and should be adjusted. I found this to be true as i got a couple misfires. Removed a bout .004 from the tip and haven't had any since.

I'm going to show my ignorance here and ask why the longer firing pin would cause a misfire? It seems to me that shortening the firing pin would make for a lighter strike. Am I thinking wrong?

I have an X-III that is shooting great but, it also has an occasional misfire. I may shoot 6 targets with it one day without any misfires and go out the next day and have 3 misfires on one target with it.

Thanks in advance.

Seem to me like a longer FP would not get up to speed(to short a strike) shortening it slighly would alow for optimun speed/strike to set off. just MOO.

The pin dosen't hit far enough to the outside of the rim. It is ground at a angle. Which means if it in shortened it will be wider and hit closer to the rim.
Hope this helps

Thanks for the explanation Gordon. I agree with your original post. The X-III action is a winner.

I've got a couple of Falcons that started with the same problem. Apperantly the manufacturers are listening to a certain gunsmiths theorys and making life harder for the rest of us.

Talked to Bill Swatsworth today, he has 125 coming out this month and all of the RB/LP are spoken for already,he said he needed to make a run of the X II`s for the 3P folks and then back on the XIII`s for May delivery, that is a lot of 22RF actions ,so there must be alot of happy campers.

You mean unless of course you read the directions that come with them, you know the part about trim to suit.
