anybody know how the front sight is hooked on?

I may be wrong but, the front sight base is part of the barrel when manufactured then a dovetail is machined into that to receive the front sight.
I am looking at one right now and that looks like the way it is.
If you want a smooth barrel at the end you will have to turn the base off with a lathe or shorten and recrown the barrel.

anybody know how the front sight is hooked on?
The front sight is driven sideways in a dovetail that is part of the barrel.

Thanks, sound like an expensive way to do it,but i guess they know what they are doing.Iwill have to turn it down in the lath.
