1 million frame per second movies (bullet impacts)

The speed of the event is only part of the problem - the other part, that of the minuteness of the movement, is one that VA's FEA models tackle by selective magnification. With an actual camera set up the effects of perspective and depth of field, might prove to be more confusing than it would be helpful. But it would be interesting to see it tried.

I ran across a page with examples from the early days of high speed photography.
One shows a mule without a head standing calmly.

The mule which was slated to be put down was fitted with a stick of dynamite on his head, the electric impulse that fired the cap triggered the camera.
They missed the detonation but caught the headless mule before the body could react to the explosive decapitation.

The rest of the site showed some high speed captures of bullets in flight, most pre WW1 tests on bullet design.

Some of those photos can be found in reference works available on the net as free downloads.
