    Barrel Slugging Lead

For the 6.5 and 30 cal look at purchasing some Hornady buckshot/round lead balls. You should be able to find dia's that will suit those bore sizes. Bob

    Borescope reviews?

The Willis type that you referenced. I have not direct experience with that particular unit but it is very similar to the various units that are being sold for automotive use. I have tried several of those units, Snap-On and Matco. Both have unique features that allow you to take still...

    F-Class and "Blow Off" rounds

The only matches that I have attended that have unlimited sighters are 1000 yd prone matches. Each match had as many sighters as you wanted (shooting at the exposed target), but there was a time period on your overall match. At Palma, you will get unlimited sighters at 800, then it is two...

    F-Class and "Blow Off" rounds

Shot a match this weekend that was predominately F-Class shooters and was surprised by the "Blow-Off" rounds that were fired before the match began. All the F-Class competitors were given a period of time before the match started to shoot an unlimited number of rounds at the berm. No paper...

    Canopy.........

EZ Up are the way to go. They are a quality item. You can get them with the side curtains and that will keep any rain off of you. The cheaper units will leak in the rain. Ask me how I know that! I also have one of the units that use conduit and a tarp. Those are hard to carry, and take two...

Break-in new barrels with tungsten disulfide?

Some of the gunsmiths I have used will lap the throat of the bbl with compound to remove the reamer marks. You don't have to shoot n clean because the bbl is ready to go from the first shots. Throat is smooth and shinny from shot one. Just one way to skin the cat! Bob

    recommended machinist book or handbook

Go to your local community college. They probably have an industrial training section. See what text book they offer for their machining course. Make sure that it addresses manual machining and not just CNC. Bob

    Shut 'er down!!

Do you think that anyone will wise up and vote in new senators and representives next election? These folks create the problems and then fight over how to fix them. I say, get rid of this new "Elite" society that "We" have created. Vote em out. Bob

    Scratches from pilot bushing

Martin64, Unless the scratches are really bad, like you can catch the fuzz off a q-tip, I would not worry about them. Have used the piloted 60 degree reamer for many bbls used for 1K shooting and they all will shoot much better than I can hold. As long as the crown is concentric with the...

    what tool to engrave barrels??

Lee, You might want to check any local engraving shops. We have one in our small town and they do bang up etching/engraving on the bbls for $6. For the number of bbls that I do, can't beat the price. Bob

    Lapua Gold Box Midas M

The Gold Box Lapua Midas M was truly the "Gold" standard for my 1913 prone rifle. Still have a little left that I use to test other ammo against. Modern Midas + is the current production stuff that produces the best results now. Bob

Heavy 10 and a Muzzle Flush System

Earl, Last Winter I helped my shooting friend plumb up his big jet lathe for the Ger-Tan muzzle flush system. We are just hobby machinists and home barrel fitters. The system is very high pressure, to force chips out of the reamer flutes, and we found out real fast how messy the system can...

    Chronograph distance from muzzle?

I would also check and make sure that the distance between the start and stop screens is exactly as per the manual. Small errors here make bigger ones on the chronograph. Bob

    We Haven't Had A Good Car Thread In A While...........My '67 Chevelle

Wow, you fellas have some pretty cool (and fast) cars. I still have the car I purchased when I turned 23 and graduated from A&P school. A 1970 454 Corvette coupe. Engine was up-graded to an LS7 (old style) which was the L-88 version of the 454. Car has ps, pb, pw, AC, tilt tello, leather, 4...

    Unertl question

Mine is definitely a 2" target in 15X. The eye piece is different between the Ultra Varmint and the Target. Target model has a long and skinny eyepiece. Varmint is bottle necked and shorter. Right on the eye piece in white letters is 15X. Bob

    PT&G bolt?

Has the action been trued and the bolt bore oversized? Of is it going to be? If so, then you need to know what the bore diameter of the action is and order the bolt diameter accordingly. That will be the key question that Dave will ask. Bob

    Welcome to California

And now another gun related business is moving out of Kalifornia and heading to Alabama. Creedmoore sports. A huge supplier to the high power shooters is saying good by to the repressive business environment. Sierra bullets did it years ago and now the state will loose more jobs and revenue...

    Unertl question

Yes they were. I have a 2 Inch target model in 15 power. It has the calibrated head as well. Probably purchased it back in the late 60's. Bob

    Removing very small set screw?

I would realize that once you get that set screw out, the rear sight will be a bear to move. Kimber rear sights are notorious for being outrageously tight in the slide. Unless you have dealt with this before, I would document where the gun is shooting and give it to a pistol smith that has...
