    failed primer, fed 210

gentlemen, i was shooting a 1943 mosin nagant 91/30 rifle this week when i had a primer fail, as in a hole in the cup, allowing gas out thru the bolt area. the load had ben shot before. est pressure is only 48k, bullet a sierra match king 174/312, powder is 43.4 of n135 producing a velocity that...

    Need help-info on rem 40-x

i have a 40x and it sucks as far as being "true". i built a target ( not a competition rifle) out of it. my 2 cents worth is a savage single shot action is better! i have built a couple rifles of them, again not competition, just target toys.

    Old powders

WHAT YOU DO WITH YOUR POWDER IS UP TO YOU, but i have had powder that looked ok except for red dust coloring. stirred it with a magnet...guess what iron oxide...red rust. used the magnet, and slow pour in path of a small fan. loaded shot and chrono...just fine. again the powder kernels look fine...

    Powder for 6PPC LV Rifle?

yes n133 and do a single shot ladder over a chrono and see what it does. maybe someone can comment on the twist ?/ my rifle tends to be happy with 68's at around 29...so start low, chrono and then work up a load

    the perfect bench

i like a curve cut on the side, not a straight like from back/base to the side..more flexibility on rifle set up and seating position.

    BR associations

for the record, the local club has shot the rimfire br match for over 20 years. the only change in that time was adding the .17's in a sep category in both sporter and target. and yes i read the ara rules. as i stated it was clear to me he wants to sell new rifle not compete against proven...

    BR associations

for years at my club i shot rf br matches. we had two classes, both were factory, no custom. sporter with up to a 6x scope and target with no scope limit. no aftermarket all factory. move to lovely az, and no club 22 br. ara is the only thing i can find..and the rifle i have shot forever is not...

you will have to explain that to me..if it is NO LONGER A PRODUCTION RIFLE, how can it be shot in class ??

    BR associations

i shot ara but got tired of A) being on the bottom of the list because i was shooting a factory rifle in unlimited because of the rules and B) the guy running the matches. if i buy a rifle today, and the maker quits making it on dec 31 2024, can i shoot it next year in factory class ??

1000 yard F class is 6.5x284 barrel life really as bad i hear it is?

the issue is you are shooting f class, it has a large target compared to benchrest. what works for you typically will not work in br, pretty simple.

    BR associations

well you said it. i did not mention names. no other organization that i know that shoots benchrest has an age of firearm limit in a class. killough SELLS GUNS, killough basically owns the shooting org, and YES THEY have a rule that says factory class rifles cannot be more than five years old...

    BR associations

yes but...the association out of texas is owned by a store that sells 22 stuff. the rules are based on SELLING GUNS. lets say you have a great shooting factory rifle...well only for 5 years and then you can no longer shoot it..it the rule, a rule designed to sell rifles, not to promote shooting...

    30br powders

so when you shoot more than ONE shot of a load, it is GROUP shooting. in this case 5 shot groups. you can test 30 br in much smaller increments... use .2 or even .1....i have done 3 shots in .1 increments going from 35 to 36 or from 34 to 35
  17. R

    30br powders

you have me confused/ a ladder has a SINGLE step at each level, group has multiple rounds per level. how do you get 25 rounds from 34-36 gr ?? one hole groups are normal in 30 br..it is the size AND SHAPE of the group that counts

    Old powders

MOST LIKELY JUST FINE. does the container have any steel parts ?? if so, open and check for rust( as opposed to deteriorated powder)..rust can be removes with a magnet and powder still used . i have some WWII 4831 that had rust, cleaned with a magnet, and shoots just fine

    Rifle Balance

its about recoil and a mass that is not held in place. might not be an issue in your case, but it will in most centerfire rifles...i have had butt plates knocked off the stock by loose weights
