    6PPC Barrel Life

Barrel Life Not just could but frequently is. A very good friend had an old Wichita that was a really hot rifle. He is a man of modest means but he had a new rifle built of the finest components by a very good smith. Bedding and a nice flame paint job by Tom Merideth, (which is to say it was...

    6PPC Barrel Life

Speedy is a well known Gunsmith. I would agree with values stated so far. It llkely has a Jewell trigger and with the scope is worth in the $1800 + range. When buying a used BR rifle ALWAYS assume the barrel is past it's prime. Then if it is good you are ahead of the game , if it is shot out...

    Henry Buhrman

I am very saddened to hear this news. Henry was a good friend for many years, and my Gunsmith for about 10 years. That was back when he still had his lathe in his living room, to the chagrin of his girl friend. I saw his old co-worker and my sometimes traveling companion Eubert Burgess about...

Who works on Leupold converted scopes??

Sounds like a "Tucker Conversion" to me. Hence a trip to Cecil is probably in order. Cecil Tucker 1567 North Jude Ave. Odessa, TX 79763 (432) 530-2919

    How important is this

I suppose a nice perfectly level range , flat all the way to the farthest target frames. No berms on either side. Enough shade to prevent mirage. Benches not facing the sun and with nice soft ground with no rocks for setting flags would be an ideal range. I have done a fair amount of shooting in...

    How important is this

I remember going to Painted Post NY to shoot my Rail and being told by Don Jones to bring rubber bands, as the top would slide back if left alone, it was that up hill. Dick

    Which scope reticle?

My old eyes have plenty of problems, I still do not see how a lighted reticle will help anything unless perhaps you are shooting at night. In my 35 years of shooting Benchrest, around 500 matches I have shot 3 night matches, and never with, or desired, a lighted reticle. I always assumed it was...

    Which scope reticle?

The Fixed Power 42 NF is the hot new scope in BR right now. It is designed so you can finally get NF optics on a 10.5 lb rifle. From all the reports I hear it is a great scope. I have shot nothing lighter than 13.5 in a while so have resisted the urge to acquire one (so far).

    Which scope reticle?

Now that is a nice scope. The eye relief is much better than the old 12-42's.

    Which scope reticle?

Perhaps you can tell me what help an Illuminated Reticle is in a BR scope? I have never figured it out. I have owned three and all I can say is you gain (lose) right around 1/3 oz weight when you throw the battery away.

Randy I agree, a 500 at Damaariscotta in October would be an unusual thing, Lee and Allie are reportedly coming as well. Should be a fun time. Dick

    Which scope reticle?

I like the dot for Score shooting. Many like the FCH for group. Probably a lot of truth to what was said earlier as we get older the dot is much easier to acquire and therefore more useful.

    25X at Fairfax Today

I have not yet shot a 750. I shot a 500 at 200/300 with this barrel last fall, and I would not mind doing it again a couple of weeks from now at Orland's.

Shooting multiple rifles at a shoot

Probably not Randy, It is so complicated I remember the day it was passed at the winter meeting. After we argued about the parameters for about 25 min we took a restroom break, as I stood in line next to Wayne France I asked him what the heck we had ended up approving because I was lost. Then a...
