Bullet diameter - How big is too big? 30 BR

Okay. Not a blowup, but not a bolt-actioned AR either. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RbfIkaNlECo BTW, the article in "PS" mentioned that the bullet that lodged in the barrel was a 150 grainer. The video showed the effects of shooting a 110 grainer in an AR. Damage is similar though...

Bullet diameter - How big is too big? 30 BR

Such occurrences are more common that you might think. Many .300 Whisper loads will fit in a 5.56 mm chamber with little or no resistance felt by the shooter. Firing the mischambered Whisper usually destroys the upper, though the shooter is usually spared the worst of the possible injuries...

    bullet stability question

Normally, this is "station pressure", which is measured using a precision barometer. DO NOT use "pressure" as reported on the TV news - it is local pressure, corrected to sea level values - this is NOT station pressure. Short of using a precision barometer, try calling a nearby FAA facility...

    bullet stability question

Recall hearing something on shooting .50 BMG rifles. FCSA has a rule on shooting rifles in a match, muzzle brakes MUST be attached to the rifle. Think this a SAFETY rule, which cannot be ignored. Do know an acquaintance (SEAL sniper) tried shooting a .50 BMG rifle minus the brake (1980s or...

    Hey guys

I could be wrong but believe small bottles of Tabasco are packed IN MREs, or at least, used to be packed in them. Something about adding flavor to the "food". "MRE" - Meals Rejected by Everyone.... ;)

US Supreme Court Rules on NY State's Concealed Carry Law

6/22/2022. The US Supreme Court has issued a ruling on NY State's 100+ year old law on Concealed Carry. In a majority decision (6-3), NY's law was judged to be unconstitutional. Appeals from other Democratic controlled states are expected but are not expected to be successful. For more...

What is the most accurate factory rifle you've owned?

The CR has four holes at the muzzle end and is called a "brake" by Browning. A picture of one is attached in post # 25 in the thread http://benchrest.com/showthread.php?102916-source-for-large-dia-benchrest-muzzle-brakes. The rifle shoots tight with the brake tuned, easily sub-MOA even with...

What is the most accurate factory rifle you've owned?

The CR tuner is still considered a "brake" by Browning, the BOSS patent requires that holes be present. I used to push 125 grain bullets through a Model 70 BOSS rifle, using 50 grains of IMR-4895 in the 30-06 case. Reasonable recoil, but the muzzle blast was a bit much....

    Message From Federal

No. Crooks eliminating each other will be yet another justification for ridding the country of firearms and ammo. Proof: In response to "criminal activity" in Chicago and other cities, Tommy guns and suppressors were subjected to a $200 Federal tax, plus paperwork and background checks...

    What to do with these?

2.38" is a bit short for loading a .308 Winchester round, however, you should not have problems removing a fired case. One thought for a candidate cartridge: 6 BR. Using a 7 to 8 twist barrel, you can accurately drive 105 to 108 grain bullets out to 1000 yards. Hope this helps, and best of luck!

    What to do with these?

Loading port length of the .308 bolt face action? Asking because if it is .308 length, it adds to the possibilities for caliber choices. Build a pair of prone only rifles? Or F-Class rifles? You might be surprised by how well such rifles can shoot. Random thoughts - from another...

I didn't shoot any competitions last year, how are you handling the shortages?

Midway USA has Lapua 6.5 Creedmoor brass in stock, a decent stock of 6.5 mm bullets, no powder and no primers. Brownells has Lapua brass, some bullets, no powder, and no primers. So how do I get around the component shortage? Simple - I have a stockpile of reloading supplies. Between the...

    kalasnikov .311 bullits

.311 diameter bore firearms: .303 Enfield; 7.7 mm Arisaka rifles; Mosin-Nagant rifles; SKS series rifles. Note that 125 grain bullets are a LOT lighter than the first three rifles are designed to fire. Maybe use the bullets for reduced recoil loads? O.P. asked about swaging bullets from .311 to...
