Really wanted the .223 but just missed out, it was sold before I could contact the guy.

    What rifle for getting started

Is there a place for a guy with a stock Savage or Marlin etc to compete? I understand that the guys in sporter class aren't shooting out of the box varmint/ target guns, but who is? If someone wanted to compete with a $300-$500 .22 where would they go?

Best bang for buck .223-.243 varminter

Went for the .223 but missed out- damn the luck. Have a line on another savage, a 110 in 270. I know it's a little bigger than I had originally planned but for the price I may go ahead and get it.

    Long range hunting rifle build

That is one trick rifle. Been thinking of picking up a 200 in .223 as a varminter, any suggestions?

Best bang for buck .223-.243 varminter

Great advice, think thats the way to go. Better to buy a 200 new or is there a particular year/variation that would be better?

Best bang for buck .223-.243 varminter

Good information on the two rounds. What I'm looking for isn't a gun for hunting proghorns etc, biggest thing I'd be taking with it would be a coyote so .223 is probably best. Thanks again, Matt.

Best bang for buck .223-.243 varminter

Thanks for the replies. Is the .204 less expensive to shoot than the .223? So it looks like its between the savage and the rem- what is a good ballpark figure to plan on spending? Thanks again, Matt.

Best bang for buck .223-.243 varminter

Thanks for the replies. I was thinking that a used Savage may be the way to go. A guy at work has a single shot .223 for sale, not a Savage, H and something I think. Been shooting rimfire for a while just looking to get into the centerfire and see what I think so obviously don't want to spend...

Best bang for buck .223-.243 varminter

Not exactly a benchrest question but figured you guys would be the best to ask. Looking for a .223 or .243 rifle that will be sub MOA accurate to 200 yards. Would prefer a repeater but would not rule out a single shot. What do you think the most cost effective choice would be? Thanks, Matt.

New to br where to start?

Looking to get into some br/target shooting. My father was a shooter and went to the range with him when I was a kid. Have shot off and on over the years, nothing too extensive. Picked up a Marlin 917v and put a Simmons 6x24 scope on it. I know of course that this isn't in the same league...
