Full Length die with a shoulder/neck bushing

I hear ya Butch ! LOL I just like to stay busy ! And if I wasn't introduced to expander mandrels verses expander ball/decappers, I would have never achieved the accuracy I get at present. Why settle for 1 inch groups?, at extended ranges it only gets worse and I never take shots at extended...

With your die, do you still have to adjust the die to set back shoulders ? I use a Redding FL body die. I use a feller gauge and my Hornady HS gauge reads what how much I set the shoulder back to. The gauge Whidden sends you with your die, are they more reliable than Hornady's gauge? Off the...

Full Length die with a shoulder/neck bushing

Ok... no brainer here. Minimum chamber max cartridge (case is a tad undersized to a slightly larger chamber), I knew that.....got it. Don't think about, not seen, slips my mind. You make a seater with the reamer. That's been a concern for me, what's the advantage ? Just less bullet/cartridge...

Full Length die with a shoulder/neck bushing

You had a separate reamer to make the die, got it. I did misunderstand, sorry, had to go back and reread. Why didn't you use the reamer that you chambered your rifle with to make the die ?

Any suggestions to go below .002 shoulder set back? I'm probably missing something. My bolt handle is to stiff for me below that.

Full Length die with a shoulder/neck bushing

wow a reamer ground to chamber and also used to make your die, nice, guess you can't get better than that. You lost the match, not the brass, sounds right. LOL The need for under an inch, well, I guess I need something to do outside hunting season and it fits my pocket, and just to see what it's...

Full Length die with a shoulder/neck bushing

super dies and super presses are scams, I agree. I watched a video of a guy loading great ammo in his RCBS RC Jr. He said good quality dies are key, but what is quality ? The runout rabbit hole ain't worth going down ? But I agree with Alinwa, That ONLY fitment of die-to-chamber matters. Why...

Full Length die with a shoulder/neck bushing

Alinwa That ONLY fitment of die-to-chamber matters)) agreed Al Nyhus What's the chambering? .30-06 I guess I'm a bit unsure of what you mean by this: they tend to be too tight, and over size the head area. Is your question actually whether the Warner/Tubb/Neil Jones style full length...

Full Length die with a shoulder/neck bushing

I have a coax press, and it does alleviate runout, but not better than my Rock Chucker, they're the same. Switching out dies faster is what I like about the coax, but my quest for concentricity was the main reason why I bought it. As far as die mfgs they tend to be too tight, and over size. I...

Full Length die with a shoulder/neck bushing

And It makes better sense with bushing dies, wish I would have got them first instead of 21st/sinclair mandrels ! I thought maybe separate shoulder sizing from the body of the die made a difference but it appears it doesn't. What's really a joke is when you ask these die people questions, I'm...

Full Length die with a shoulder/neck bushing

TUBB and Warner Full Length die with a shoulder/neck bushing what's the advantage over a FL sizer with a neck bushing ? The busing floats to size shoulder/neck with less runout ? verses a shoulder sized that's part of body of the die ?

I had to send a Bonanza BR seater back to have a chamber sleeve replaced, it got to Forster yesterday. The bullet guide at the top is out of spec, it measures .310 instead of .3085. I am getting more runout than I want. I was also concerned about case heads having too much clearance in the...

I let it go a bit too long LOL live ya learn. Usually clean well, but didn't realize that ring builds up. Know now. If the rings doesn't accumulate then I could load tighter ? Or is a Sammi chamber different than custom chambers ?

Guy from Whidden said .470 -.0025 and .001 spring back = .4685 sound right ? The .0015 makes a stiff bolt closure and hard extraction. What would you suggest for less ? I had a carbon ring that was making me me do .004.

Un-harden dies ? That's crazy ! LOL I'm dealing with my Redding standard seater with .470 or so at the base..... I don't have pin gauges, so I'm not totally sure and any FL die is way under even when I bump my shoulders at .0025. Anything under that is a bit stiff. But I would love to use his...
