    1/4 drive torque wrench?

For torquing action screws in a bedded benchrest hunter rifle for instance, 35 in lbs isn't enough.

    Federal Primers are changing formula?

I wonder what these little "thermite grenades" are going to do to barrel steel, especially in the first few inches ahead of the chamber?

    Tough Kimber mainspring

Going too light on an auto's mainspring risks imparting damage to the gun's frame or slide. Think a Colt Gold Cup, designed for mid-range target loads being shot a lot with hardball with no change in mainspring. Not a good idea. Everything is a compromise one way or the other.

    DYI Scope Repair

There is a differnece between nitrogen purged, and nitrogen filled imo. Someone earlier mentioned a chamber with a positive purssure nitrogen feed for final assembly so as to keep dust out. If some scopes are sealed, meaning nitrogen filled and built to keep it inside, I'm not aware of which...

    DYI Scope Repair

That is so easy to do on a Unertl or Lyman STS if you don't realize what those two screws are holding, just ahead of the eyepiece.

    Bob Dodd Passed 2-13-22

Sorry to hear of the loss to you and all of benchrest. I had one of his actions in the past and he was very helpful with some questions I had about it.

    Unertl question

The screw on the ring tightens it down at your desired location. When the rifle fires it recoils back but the scope stays put. You have to pull it back against the tightened down stop ring or use a compressed spring to do that for you if the scope has one. Some do, some don't. Yes there is a...

    Bore Rider Jags

Part of the jag's body is near bore size and the length is such that the fat part of the jag keeps it pretty well centered in the bore and the length keeps the brass tip of your rod from getting outside the bore, unless you propel the rod and jag at light speed.

I use Lapua 6.5x55 swede cases in my wife's Tikka T3 no problems. It is a long throated factory chamber. Very accurate rife.

Modern loads in the 7mm Mauser?

The 7x57mm seems to have always suffered here in the US from the vast supply of old mausers that are not proofed for the full potential of the 7x57. American ammo has been loaded for the least common denominator. If you want to see its full potential get some factory NORMA ammo. In a strong...

    C.O.R.N.Y. virus, Dakota variant....

There was an article in Precision Rifle magazine years ago comparing various bore cleaners like RemClean, JB, IOSSO and as I remember they used a micro fine diatomaceous earth for the cutting action. Sure wish I had saved that article. Looks like Remington has changed the name to 40X bore...
