Rimfire Benchrest rifles (Calfee SPEC rifles)

I just figured that one would, most of the XP22's he built were numbered. At least that is what I read over the years. Kinda gets to what Stiller said, only a few select people are welcomed on his site, so asking directly is out of the question. I assume that the rifle names came mostly from the...

Rimfire Benchrest rifles (Calfee SPEC rifles)

Is it over? Now back to my question. Why does the MD-PAS pistol that Mr. Calfee built and still owns, not have a name?

    Threaded tuners?

main reasons 1. A .22RF does not need to be threaded, really no danger of blowing it off. 2. One less machining process on a already expensive barrel. 3. Crown exit, when you have a .900 + or- barrel, turning it down to .500 may let the muzzle open up, be it ever so slightly, that may cause...

Rimfire Benchrest rifles (Calfee SPEC rifles)

Names Tony, When did Mr. Calfee start naming his builds? I have seen several of his older builds, that sport the name Calfee on the barrels, but no name on the stock. I will say that most of the ones I saw, were not full-on customs, more like 40X's and the like. I noticed just lately, he holds...

    Jeff Patterson's J-PAT SPEC Rifles

It's all about having a good time. Ralph, I was not having the best shooting day either, but I had a ball with Larry and Robert. Larry left Saturday scratching his head and Robert wanted to buy my rifle after the match was over on Sunday. Told him I would trade, but he passed on it.

    Jeff Patterson's J-PAT SPEC Rifles

Lee, the one I missed was all on me, not the ammo or the 52, I was getting lined up on a bull, when Ralph who was two benches up from me muttered, his went high by two rings. So, rather than pull off and shoot a sighter, I opted to just hold a little lower. Had I not done that, I would have miss...

    Jeff Patterson's J-PAT SPEC Rifles

Yes, Robert and Primevil are bad to the bone. I got it handed to me during the IR50/50 indoor nationals meters match Sunday. Robert and Primevil beat me and my 52D by 3 Xs, 749-47 to 749-44. He finished 7th and I was 8th. I really thought I had him covered..

    Tuners!!!!

Just thought I would refresh every ones memory of what this thread is about, before it turned into the soap opera it is now. Personally I do not use tuners much, I have found if your ammo is not all that good, it's not really going to help anyway. If your ammo is good, it's not going to make...

Custom Benchrest stock - Tony Boyer

Thats it, or reasonably close, Tony's was silver, as best as I remember with a Lapua decal on it.. He shot IR matches at Piney Hill several years ago.

Keith, you really need a HOB. :p I read somewhere that it's the only way to properly lap a chamber.

New 10 shot record at Piney Hill

It happened, A 142 on one target on Saturday during the Virginia State / Mid Atlantic matches, then a 604 total score Sunday, during the Nationals, nipping Chuck Morrell's 600 score . Thats two records, if they pass with Jason, guess we will know in a few months:cool:. I guess I motivated Bruce...

Turning the outside of the muzzle end for the tuner, effect on inside diameter ?

Maybe it is to offset the torque of tightening the tuner. Maybe it was to insure the tuner sets in the particular spot, if it were ever taken off and reinstalled. .005 is a very small cut. I will agree that taking material off the outside, will cause the inside diameter to expand, but at .005...

Not much of a drinker here, although I do indulge in a good Vodka once in a great while " off topic I know" but I'm still wondering, why this thread is not in the General Discussion part of this forum. http://benchrest.com/forumdisplay.php?8-General-Discussion Harper had a great series of...

    ARA Indoor Nationals

Tony, I can only think it would be in the length, Lapua is much more consistent in length (per lot) and usually always longer than Eley. My 52D will shoot either one, but has a slight preference for Lapua, my best guess as to why, would be a little more engraving with the Lapua. It will also...

    ARA Indoor Nationals

Maybe this will help till Kevin shows up. "I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but factory actions haven't been competitive in RFBR for a long time" Maybe not, but they are way more fun to shoot, especially when you sit down between two of the best in the country and score better 2 out of 3...

pretty quick Tony, I wonder if all the Calfee SPEC rifles were spoken for in the same short amount of time, that JPats were ? Or was Calfee's done over a course of years ?
