    Next turning case holder

Are you chucking directly on the brass? GsT

    Next turning case holder

There are a handful of holders that are basically a shelll-holder with a center post that tightens against the brass - they're a pretty good balance of secure grip, and easy change. K&M and others make them. Hope that helps, GsT

    Shooting glasses?

Rudy Project I've been using Rudy Project glasses for the last ~20 years (same pair!). Great glasses, interchangeable lenses. I find myself mostly using the 'laser clear' lens which is clear with a little gray tint at the top. Now that I *need* some sort of corrective lens I'll have to do...

    Lathe

Summit 14x40 I bought my current lathe ~20 years ago, the company is still around, but I think their smallest machine now is a 16x60. For the uninitiated "14x40" means you can turn a 14" diameter piece, 40" long between centers. That's a bit overkill for gunsmithing, but for general use I'd...

    Indicating micrometer?

I doubt they are - I've never seen a tolerance spec on the length, which would presumably be stated if they were. GsT

    Indicating micrometer?

Ive done this too BUT, I think the reason the "real" standards are full-scale is to detect any distortion in the threaded rod at the heart of the thing - if it's bent or stretched that should show up on a full-range measurement, but might not on something smaller. So, if your standard is...

    Cutting a Dovetail

Neither my Springfield 1911 nor my M&P Pro are tapered, haven't checked the Glock, but I doubt they've ever been. My older Kimbers *are* tapered - the only guns I own that are. Tru-Glo (and most sight manufacturers) say that because at one time they were (still surprised if they said Glock...)...

    Cutting a Dovetail

I disagree That was once common, but no longer is. It provides no real benefit (other than trying to figure out which way to drive a sight in or out). Most current manufacturers sell sights with parallel sides, and most cuts are now parallel as well. Now you can tap 'em back and forth...

    " Common Sense" gun laws

Neither criminals, nor "common sense"... ...are the reason "they" want gun laws - those are just talking points to get the mindless masses to trudge after them. It's not about fixing crime (look at all the stupid gun laws and proposed stupid gun laws - they're aimed at lawful owners, not...

    Cutting a Dovetail

Absolutely! Definitely. For sight cuts I like to make that center cut a couple thou deeper than my dovetail depth as well - makes it a little easier to get the sight in & out, but still holds "plenty much good enough". GsT

    Indicating micrometer?

I think the mic Dave Tooley linked https://www.amazon.com/Shars-Indicating-Micrometer-00005-303-2301/dp/B082QSLH1C/ is a safer bet - same or better resolution and it's a new item from a reasonably reputable company. I'd order direct from Shars.com and if there are issues they'll take care of...

    Air Force Talon

Well, that's not exactly benchrest... ...but take a look at the UTG airgun scopes - they're pretty good for the money and have held up well for me. GsT

    Shooting The FX Impact MKII

I was thinking the same - even mild steel would probably work unless you hit very high volumes. Mostly though I was wondering about the pusher - do you make it pointed to match the pellet skirt, or do you just go with a blunt surface, like the bullet sizers I've used? I'm assuming you'd...

    RCBS Matchmaster

You did say no bumps... ...but I think that's normal when it can't reach a stable tare weight. On older RCBS units I had that problem frequently due to poor power quality. GsT

    Shooting The FX Impact MKII

Excellent! What bullet sizing die / pusher did you use? Might try this myself. Thanks for continuing to follow up! GsT

Texas Politician's rational for bill to eliminate "Stand Your Ground" law.

I'm not at all defending her, or her bill (with which I vehemently disagree) - just clearing the air. I'm a firm believer in self defense, castle doctrine, and the ability to defend what is yours. GsT

Texas Politician's rational for bill to eliminate "Stand Your Ground" law.

Meza is, indeed, brain dead, but she didn't actually say that. It's from a satirical piece about her idiotic legislation. GsT

Check Out The Latest Addition to Our Shop.....

Interesting Seems eminently reasonable. Do you recall what the cutoff size for 'expendable' was? How 'bout you Jackie? How big and/or expensive does a drill need to be to warrant sharpening? GsT

    Beeman 400 (Diana75) value?

Probably around $700-$1000 - and declining Great rifle, but strides in airguns in the past 10-15 years are leaving the older 'great guns' in the dust. Glad you said you're keeping it - that's probably the best way to get value from it! ( I'm not a professional appraiser, etc, etc, but I...
