    Shilen DGA Bolt Disassembly

It may well be a '700 pin (it looks the same) but I don't know for sure. GsT

    Shilen DGA Bolt Disassembly

Typically you hold the firing pin to the rear and unscrew the bolt shroud. Look up Rem 700 bolt disassembly if that doesn't make sense - I'm sure yours comes apart the same way. I suspect a good cleaning will "fix" it. GsT

we need a humor forum.....until then

True story: I was sitting in the ER with my wife and I overheard the doctor in the adjacent stall (what do you call those? Stall seems appropriate...). Say "You know what they call the guy that graduates at the bottom of his class in medical school?" . . . "Doctor" Something to keep in mind...

    Old powders

I'm sure it will still work, not sure if it's BR worthy, I'd be interested in hearing from others. I've loaded a lot of old (~20 year, some still in cardboard cannisters) powder with no discernible lack of performance, but I wasn't shooting BR with them. GsT

    Question on sighting

If you're shooting at a sharp elevation (up or down) you will hit higher than a zero obtained by firing horizontally. Your trajectory changes, because gravity is no longer acting perpendicular to the line of sight. So only a fraction of gravitational acceleration is moving the bullet in a...

    Question on sighting

I wouldn't adjust anything. The angular difference is pretty much inconsequential. (And if it were, you would be hitting high.) Whatever the problem, if you can go back to the bench and it shoots the same, it's not the rifle. GsT

    Garmin Xero® C1 Pro Chronograph

Yes. And if you retrieve the data to your computer the name of the string is included in the data. Without the app it's just "String #112", etc. GsT

Seating depth question for custom chamber

I'd cut the chamber with a very small jump at SAAMI OAL. That'll give you room to fine tune your OAL to that particular barrel while staying within magazine length. GsT

    Garmin Xero® C1 Pro Chronograph

I don't think you can directly connect the Garmin to a printer, but you can download the data (via the app) and then print, or just archive. A more involved method is to get the raw data file off the Garmin (just use it like a thumb drive). The raw data is in a proprietary format (Garmin FIT)...

⁸Action Cleaning--an old cleaning agent repurposed?

how about some credentials from those you ask to provide tutorials ?

Online I think expertise is just demonstrated over time. Any sensible person knows that anyone can claim just about anything online, but if you participate in a forum for very long it's pretty easy to suss out the real experts from the keyboard commandos. There are few other credentials that...

Can anybody recommend a good "accurizing 101" source?

I prefer books, but in this case I would not recommend Gordy's (chambering) book. I thought it had a lot of gaps and just wasn't very well written. In that particular case his chambering video is much better. GsT

Can anybody recommend a good "accurizing 101" source?

I understand that itch. ML McPherson's "Accurizing the Factory Rifle" isn't bad, especially if you don't have machine tools. If you have tools, Hinant's rifle chambering book, Gordy Gritter's chambering video (from Grizzly machine), and "Centrefire Rifle Accuracy" by William Hambley Clark are...

    Declining attendance

If I may interject, as someone who has not yet shot a BR match, the price is definitely part of it. You can look at the price of a competitive rifle, but that usually doesn't include the scope, nor the rest. Then there's the loading gear, the oddball components, and custom bullets... From the...

    Uplifting Quotes

Here are a few of my favorites. "Up to a point a man's life is shaped by environment, heredity, and movements and changes in the world about him. Then there comes a time when it lies within his grasp to shape the clay of his life into the sort of thing he wishes to be. Only the weak blame...
