IOR Valdada 40X45 BR Rifle Scope Part 2

They have earned a great reputation for quality in cf br as well. The glass was excellent in the couple I've seen. Some models are on the heavy side if weight is a consideration and some take a different ring diameter, but I don't recall the size. Just pay attention to these things when shopping...

    Wipeout

Without delving into drills and spinning brushes, I admit that I use good quality bronze brushes. Nylon, IMHO, is pretty useless in this application and I believe is actually more, not less, prone to cause damage than bronze because it's softer and more likely to embed hard particulates that MAY...

    Wipeout

A brush helps tremendously with carbon. Don't be scared.

    Vibrations...good and bad.

This, I agree with. It's just physics but the difference is small and not something to hang your hat on or worry much with. This, I'm still confused on. If it shoots similarly at 360° away, it was luck..or chance, IME, because of what I said before. The thread pitch and mark values, as well as...

    Vibrations...good and bad.

I'm not following you for some reason. My tuners are threaded 32 TPI and the standard tuner has 32 marks around it. So for all intents and purposes, each mark moves the tuner a thou longitudinally, lengthwise. Some makes and models use different mark values and/or threads as well. Of course that...

    Vibrations...good and bad.

Reading the thread about ejectors and a few more over time got me thinking about discussions I've had with people over the last several years and how vibration analysis testing applies to some of those discussions. First, I wanna say that we can't eliminate all vibration and that we should NOT...

    International Benchrest bench rules

Awesome! Thanks! IIRC, I Put those plates about midway through the concrete on mine. Probably doesn't matter much either way. I'm glad these plans are out there for others again. This is about as good a design as I've found..and it be somewhat portable. Concrete blocks are cheaper and easier if...

    International Benchrest bench rules

The 6x6 plates get welded to the top of the legs and will be in the concrete when done. I remember I used a threaded rod or bolt on all three legs, probably welded to those plates, to hold the base about 1.5 inches off of the form while the concrete sets. I think I dressed those up when it was...

    International Benchrest bench rules

I wish I could find them again! I had them saved but have somehow lost the pics but I'll try to copy and paste what I have and hope it helps. Not sure what happened to the pics. There are a couple of names that someone on here might recognize. If so, they might be of more help. Anyway, this has...

    International Benchrest bench rules

I found those plans on this site many years ago. Tough to find, if they're still out there in the interweb world. Nonetheless, I built my bench like those appear and yes, it's damn hard to beat and it can be moved with a strong enough back. Very good design! I still haven't added the casters...

which rail gun to start with

Rails are a different animal, that I have very little experience with. But regardless of scope, your field of view gets a lot smaller as magnification goes up. That just means you don't see the far flags in the bottom of the scope. You just have to play with that and see what works best for you...

World Championship Benchrest (16th) France 2023

Congrats team USA! I'm really happy to see Steve Lee do well. Nice guy and he worked hard, as you can tell...Such an accomplishment just to make the team! Good job to all!!

insert a savage action to use std 1.062 x 16 bbl thread ?

I do think that it's close but once made and in place, it'll work. At that point, it's just taking up space. But it's gonna be very thin in the small areas where the threads cross. That's not hypothetical at all. You/he can fudge the amount just a bit in different ways. I think if it gets...

    Left the range

Very sorry to hear this. I didn't know he had been sick. He did lots of testing and had his ways. I always enjoyed his posts. Sometimes we agreed and sometimes we didn't but never had a cross word and got a kick out of his personality. Will miss his posts on here. RIP Alinwa

insert a savage action to use std 1.062 x 16 bbl thread ?

The Pandas are 1.500 wide. I know how Jerry Stiller described the insert and how it's held in place on his Viper actions, a Panda clone, from a few years ago. Assuming a similar insert and process, Jerry used an interference fit at both top and bottom of the insert along with the threads. He...

insert a savage action to use std 1.062 x 16 bbl thread ?

It's gonna be paper thin in places but will probably work. I'd feel a whole lot better about doing on something that's not a bomb inches from my face though.

    6mm ppc

No but seems like a reasonable question to me. Scary if AI can figure out other powder options for a relatively obscure 6 PPC and post questions about them on shooting forums, though!

    2023 UBR 100/200 Nationals

Man, what a great day of shooting. We had a little bit of everything weather wise. Overall, weather was gorgeous but we had mostly light and switch wind, mostly cloudy with times of bright sun. A few raindrops but really just a good day with conditions that were tougher than they looked for most...
