    more barrel questions

Lots of variables to bbl life. I'd say avg ppc life is in the 1500-1700 round range but there are anomalies that just shoot and shoot. I won a couple of 200 yard National aggs with a bbl that had over 5000 rounds on it. Still have it. Has over 7000 on it now but it started coppering badfly just...

    barrels

Several years ago, I bought a supposedly bad bbl, cheap, from a friend to turn into a fire form bbl. The two previous owners both said it just wasn't up to snuff. I had to rechamber it, so there is that factor to consider, due to it being a 30br and I needed it for a 30 Major. But bottom line...

    Declining attendance

You bring up a lot of good points that appear logical and well thought out. Promotion is key but factory class is where we need to work really hard to get more attendance. We all started out somewhere and a lot of times, it was just our best shooting factory rifle and a buddy or two shooting...

    22 cal v 6mm

HOF'er, Bill Forrester once told be that not only did it happen, but he counted ont it, to be measured as a 6mm in group matches. That would be a pretty significant edge to a good 22, imho. But he made and used his own bullets, in the 52-55gr range

Build your prefect SR Group rifle

Weight becomes a big factor in components for a LV build, and recoil, too. While limited, we do have access to a few really good stocks that save weight and allow things such as tuners in LV. Of course I believe tuners are the best thing since sliced bread but I'd honestly say so if I didn't...

Build your perfect SR Score rifle

I'm not sure I'd change a thing from what I have. A couple of Borden Rimrocks in the Borden/Adamowitz(sp) style stocks(still my favorite), a very good old Jewell trigger and a GREAT barrel. Call me happy with that. As for cartridge, I believe a 30BR and 30 Major are a coin toss and there are...

    This is STILL...

That's what's going on over there. A lot to be said for a small group of dedicated shooters that are deeply knowledgeable. Big sites have a lot of simplistic and incorrect info to basic questions that get repeated, dumbing down the whole place. This was the place where that didn't fly.

    This is STILL...

the place for REAL discussion related to accuracy. The other place is apparently driven by subscriptions and donations. I hope this site can grow, at least to where it once was. This place was always truth driven, even if it didn't please everyone. I love that. I'll try to move some threads over...

Al Auman wins Super Shoot 50

Congrats to Al but congrats to you too, Steve! Great job!

    Let's talk about bullets

Yes, I think the magic spot might not be where we commonly measure but I'm not sure enough to preach on here. The area just above the core and below the actual ogive seems to be a hollow area that may be susceptible to inconsistencies. But hey, some bullets have lead above that point too so it's...

    Redding standard seating die length

If you have one of a few different seaters for a 6br, 6ppc etc, can you not use that for a close estimate. I mean, lots of wiggle room with lock rings at both places for adjustability. Maybe I'm missing something here or am not sure what dimensions you're referring to. Also, when I make a wilson...

    Barrel Sight Hole Plug Screws

If you can order a 6-48 tap, I don't see a problem. The only thing that makes them gun centric is the pitch of the thread. So unless they dictate thread pitches you can use on any unrelated project, I can't see how they can regulate screws to fit your holes.

Bullet choice strictly for 100 yards score matches.

Yes, if you have flags, great but if not, they will be just as much or even more important than any other piece of equipment you will own at improving your scores. Get some flags and never shoot without them.

    Front joystick rest options

Yes, it was a series of videos of the guy copying Rod's original rest, from start to finish. Pretty cool but I suggest turning the volume down. That background music wore on me pretty fast. Lol!

    How's lilja these days?

Top notch barrels. Not a thing wrong with Liljas, IME.

we need a humor forum.....until then

What's the problem again? I have no problem finding the humor section and it's fine with me that it's not at top every day of a BR forum but yes, there was some good stuff(funny) there. I like what you did Mod. I honestly see nothing at all wrong with the change but can see your logic with not...

    Front joystick rest options

I believe you'll love it. For anyone that's interested, here's video of a guy in eastern Europe copying Rod's original rest that uses the same coax mechanism as his new Raptor. This video is what prompted me to buy one. I think you can watch from about the 2:00 mark to about 6:00 or so and get...
