    Touch to Jam

Well stated, Jerry.:) More precise, even than Wheeler's method, is to obtain a barrel-stub, combination head-space & "throat"/seating depth gauge - a piece of barrel with the reamer run-in only to shoulder depth - gunsmiths were making these when I began in BR, LOOooong ago. The seater...

A different method of mounting Rail Gun barreled action.

Cool concept! You'd maybe probably get some more teeth pulled, Jackie - cool concept!:p:DRG P.S. R U already thinking about testing with metal-to-metal & with damper between lug and base-plate??

    Boone Valley Ikes tournaments protocol.

The remaining scheduled Boone valley Ike's bench rest tournaments will go on, as scheduled (check the NBRSA schedule). The only change: lunch WILL NOT be served - until further notice, bring you own lunch and beverages. RG

bonded cores, coper tubing jacket, dual rverse jacketed bullet aka A-frame

I have not. I didn't have faith that such a bullet would have the precision I look for, so didn't go there. My current LOT of Sierra 6.5/.264 jackets are a near perfect fit [into a LOT 30 Cal. of J4 on hand] for this concept - especially, where, "MOA accuracy (minute of antler)", is adequate...

bonded cores, coper tubing jacket, dual rverse jacketed bullet aka A-frame

I can state this with certainty: a ball-bearing, seated between two cores, with the expectation - hope, really - that the bearing might act like a partition, limiting expansion, is not a good idea . . . ask me how I know, but don't expect an answer.:pRG

New to 30 BR - Robinnett case specs

Got those gizmos too, but have hard time keeping the gremlins from playing with them. :p What amazes me is how few smiths seem to either offer, or, talk the their customers into obtaining these gizmos.;) RG

bonded cores, coper tubing jacket, dual rverse jacketed bullet aka A-frame

With J4 jackets, you will likely be quite pleased with "bonding" then pointing - without "seating" the cores - seating will shear the lead at the bond-line. To find out how/what I know, e-mail me: < bibrob@minburncomm.net >;)RG

    making .30 118/124gr bullets on 1" J4 - ram stroke at core seating ??

I agree with measurements - they are precise and lead to repeatably uniform finished bullet dimensions. The "human element" - tactile judgement - is what separates a custom bullet from machine/mass produced bullets: we can sort by "feel", and segregate an odd feeling bullet from it's siblings.;)...

New to 30 BR - Robinnett case specs

Al, I may not have been clear - not on this thread, but have been on others - the [so called] Robinett reamer is the exact opposite of the circumstance with The WolfPup/SGR: that is, when asked, by Dave, I stated that my specs were NOT to be considered proprietary - let anyone who wants one have...

    making .30 118/124gr bullets on 1" J4 - ram stroke at core seating ??

Somewhere, I've got some pics of some strange bullet swage contraptions built by Ferris Pendell, featuring all sorts of gauges and dial indicators in various positions . . . measuring deflection, pressure, who knows what - maybe I can dig them up - they sure don't resemble anything we use these...

    NBRSA Short Range Score Nationals

Disappointed heaped upon disappointment this season. :( Still, thank you, Dean & crew for planning and efforts to Conduct the NBRSA SR Score Nationals, and ample notice. Maybe next year. Be well! RG

New to 30 BR - Robinnett case specs

NO, you are not - it's the reamer make who would put any known moniker on a reamer of differing dimensions. Regardless of reamer specs, or, case-forming method, the smith, should, at least, be able to provide the customer with the maximum OAL! If the smith cannot/will not share this critical...

New to 30 BR - Robinnett case specs

There should NOT be a single variation and still be marked "30BR ROBINETT" - anything else is something else, and should be so designated - it certainly should not bear my name. That said, alteration may be either good, or bad - but either way, a reamer bearing a single change is certainly...

New to 30 BR - Robinnett case specs

Greg, THE problem: which reamer print?!!? If the smith cannot/will not say, one needs a new smith!:p;) Sadly, some appear to have not a clue . . . to quote Bob Dylan - again - "the times they are a changin' . . . ":(RG

    making .30 118/124gr bullets on 1" J4 - ram stroke at core seating ??

Yeah - I wore out a few rabbits feet, crow skulls/bones, and rubber chickens! :p George makes great dies, knows how to, "get it done", and is very generous in sharing his knowledge. And it's repeatable!!;) I do like the OPs (OliveOil's) concept, which would be pretty good for, "getting...

    making .30 118/124gr bullets on 1" J4 - ram stroke at core seating ??

Before I say anything else - either call, e-mail, or, PM George Ulrich (see his post - #8 - above). I understand your concept, and believe it good logic, however, for the reasons (& and more) which you point out (red), only for getting into the stadium. I'm not going to bore you with my...

I can add but repetition - Randy was a good man (make that Human being) and fierce [best kind] of competitor. Condolences and prayers for his beloved. RIP, Randy, for you, surely, the gates were wide open. RG
