Stout X-count! Congrats to Pedro. I always read his posts here and else where.

Chief City Shooters IR 3-gun Pontiac, IL

Thanks for the kind words Tony. I will get a fresh update on JD today or tomorrow and post. Last update he was progressing very well. I have helped JD the last two seasons with setup/teardown of the range, and a few other odd duties. He and I work well together and love to compete with each...

Chief City Shooters IR 3-gun Pontiac, IL

Thanks Todd, I appreciate your post. We'll have plenty of room if you guys want to come up. The end of July tournament weekend would be more 'bang' for your travel buck. 12 cards in two days. Yards on Saturday and meters on Sunday. Should be a real good time! Scott

Chief City Shooters IR 3-gun Pontiac, IL

Chief City Shooters just north of Pontiac, IL will start their season on May 7th. We shoot a double 3-gun list match on the first Sunday of the month May through September. This club is a long standing IR club which has always shot 3-gun. I am posting here to let shooters know some things have...

    Jeff Patterson's J-PAT SPEC Rifles

The comment above explains some of the scores I was seeing. Seemed some were really hot, then fell off hard.

    Jeff Patterson's J-PAT SPEC Rifles

Sept 25th Robert Oats, shooting Spec 1 (Primevil) won the IR50/50 Outdoor Nationals at Kettlefoot, Bristol, VA. There was some very serious talent there to beat as well.

    2022 IR 50/50 Nationals

Nice post Tony. Well written and as others have said, informative to those that do not shoot IR, especially the Sporter and 3-gun classes. Jason did run a good match. Also, as an ARA co-match director who also shoots the matches my partner and I run, running a match and scoring the cards is a...

    Rimfire Ammo

If you only ran 4 lots, you didn't even scratch the data needed to find good ammo. Also, your advertised speeds are all quite high in my opinion. Have you ever tested lower speed ammo? Is there a reason, or your 'opinion' of why you feel you need to test higher velocity ammo? Just curious. Scott

Turning down diameter of an already lapped barrel

Several things posted here piqued my interest in a reply. Lidgard stock, I have one on a 10.5 rifle, curly maple. Weighed more than the vendor thought. I called Brent and he agreed to work it over without disturbing the original finish. Milled lightening slots in the forearm that did not effect...

    Tuners!!!!

I whole heartily agree with posts 203 and 204. One thing I will add, is that I am slowly replacing my Harrells tuners with Stiller tuners. Better tolerances on machining and three lock screws to keep the tuner from accidently moving after it is set. Scott

    Ir 50/50 (275)

I guess I'm an idiot in your eyes Mr. Harper. You name the thread opener "Ir 50/50 (275)" and firstly bring up the subject you couldn't get support for last year. Then bring up a non-sanctioned money match scored in a unconventional way and throw Bill's name on it. Then finally bring up Norm's...

    Ir 50/50 (275)

If you don't like the scoring, don't shoot it. The fact of the matter is that if you miss so far out you get a nine, the 250 is still valid. In most, if not all of the IR matches I have shot, the 250 low X count doesn't really come into play that often. It's about keeping all 25 shots within a...

    Ir 50/50 (275)

Yes Tim, 'new(ish)', but a student of the game. Also deeply enamored to what I feel is the true core of what IR is all about, 3-gun/Sporter. Also the scoring system. Captive audience?.....I can see merit in that comment, but Friday was a practice day and finishing it with a money match adds to...

    Ir 50/50 (275)

Push the envelope? Mr. Harper, Not so sure about your comment about Slick 'pushing the envelope' so to speak. Slick promotes the game of sanctioned RFBR very well, IMO. It was a money match, not sanctioned, and we did the same thing in December 2021 at the Indoor Nationals as well. Nationals...

What it takes to win... outside gear

Manage fatigue Keith and Tim brought up some good points, as well as others, above. To my point, long days, and back to back weekend matches. There is a darn good reason an ARA double point club tournament has to be 6 cards. As mentioned, especially outdoors. Fatigue, both eye strain and...

True story. I tried a little over a year ago. He was one of my 'bucket list' gunsmiths too. Just didn't get there fast enough. Hope he is doing well in his retirement. Scott

A specific Sporter scope - would you buy it?

Absolutely agree with the above. Happy this may come to bare. Scott
