Hunter Bench Rest gun for 2024

Uhh...that would be a "No" for me. If I started polishing cases, all my cases would know something was wrong. They'd get together in a little brass army 💂‍♀️ and revolt. Probably take me hostage and make me trim cases necks until they broke me.....

Edgewood new 'Tracker' rear bag reviews

Thanks, Doc. The air gap was my concern. Hopefully this season I can throw my guns on one and see how it fits. Wishing you and yours a good Christmas. 👍 -Al

Edgewood new 'Tracker' rear bag reviews

Jerry, how wide is the spacing at the bottom of the ears? It looks like there's not a flat area but more of a rounded trough? Thanks! -Al

    dmort & geo.ulrich?

George is a pretty cool guy with more talent that you can imagine. Mort posts occasionally over at Accurate Shooter...he's a cool guy too. 😎-Al

Hunter Bench Rest gun for 2024

A couple of pics of my 'new' Hunter gun for next season. Rather than making the stock look really nice, I went with the Rat Rod look. Good shootin' :) -Al

    30 BR question

In 30BRs that get tight at the back end, polishing the chamber and then backing up on the amount of sizing is a better approach than more aggressive sizing.

Who did these modifications on a Leupold?

Sightron offered a fixed 6 power A.O. scope designated the 6HBR series. They were available in cross hair and .375 dot dot reticles. I shot both versions for several years....good scopes. A 6X on the existing SII 36X platform would be nice. Good shootin' :) -Al

Who did these modifications on a Leupold?

Nothing to it but to do it, Pete. I'm not sure of the need for any new records, though. When the NBRSA dropped case capacity rule for Hunter guns, the existing records for the class remained. ;)

Who did these modifications on a Leupold?

That's the reasoning behind possibly changing the NBRSA Hunter weight from 10 to 10.5 pounds. The extra 8 oz. would open up a lot of options for scopes. It will definitely be an agenda item to be voted on at the 2024 NBRSA Score Nationals. At this years NBRSA Score Nationals, there were less...

Who did these modifications on a Leupold?

Swerving off topic a bit...there's some rumbling about the NBRSA Hunter rules moving the weight to 10.5 lbs. That would sure open up a lot more possibilities for scope choices. :)

Who did these modifications on a Leupold?

Pete, Sightron still services those scopes right here in the good 'ol U.S A. (y)

Pete, what brands of HBR scopes do you need serviced?

Who did these modifications on a Leupold?

It's doubtful there's much, if any, nitrogen or argon that remains in a scope after a while. In a BR setting, fogging would be pretty unlikely...not that it couldnt happen, though. I've got a fixed power 6X scope here that had some fungus on the the inside of the objective lens. I've...

Who did these modifications on a Leupold?

They did...maybe still do on some. I had a 8-32 Signature with that feature. A spring loaded set screw could be adjusted to bear against the erector tube to lock it in place. In practice, that process would change the zero....you had to lead it a bit before you locked it. The last versions of...

Who did these modifications on a Leupold?

Actually, several top BR 'smiths and talented tinkerers performed this modification. As Wayne mentioned, the late Ron Hoehn is primarily linked to this mod. It's very simple to do and if you don't want to use the screws to lock the erector, just remove them and plug the holes. I've had several...

Who did these modifications on a Leupold?

Those are to stabilize the erector tube. Loosen them to adjust windage or elevation and then snug then lightly against the erector tube.

    Wipeout

Nothing but quality  looped bronze brushes used here, regardless of the solvent. And while a carbon ring is certainly something to look for and address, I'm not so sure it's as big a deal as many make it out to be...either in how it forms or taking it out. A factory barrelled 220 Swift many...

In general, a spacer is made to reduce the O.D. of the bolt face to fit the new case head. Of course, the extractor comes into play also because the original will likely be too short to grab the smaller case extractor groove. If it was mine, I'd check with Mike Bryant. Mike would be an excellent...
