    We Haven't Had A Good Car Thread In A While...........My '67 Chevelle

Nailheads can be a tough fit with the starter on the left side. Tends to get really close to the steering column. I put one in my '33 3-window Ford: It's a 0.060" over 401 with compression bumped to 12:1 (and a really big cam). Runs on race fuel but is pretty stout. Nailheads may not rev...

    Benchrest History Thread

I'd definitely be interested in copies Butch if it isn't too much trouble. Masker contributed greatly to this sport of ours. They'd be a wonderful read. Thanks, -Lee www.singleactions.com

The Benchrest Community has lost another Family Member - Keith Morris

I always enjoyed talking with Keith. In fact, he and I shared a bench at my first match. I'll never forget how helpful he was. He'll be missed. -Lee www.singleactions.com

    McMillan EDGE HV benchrest stock

My .30-cal VFS gun is on an Edge HV. It tracks beautifully. I've tried a few rear bags and it seems to prefer the Protektor Dr., triple stitch, 1/2". -Lee www.singleactions.comm

    Identifying Various Culver Clones

Froggie - my dad helped Homer make those measures from the early 80's through ~1993. I wrote an article on Culver and it covers the insert. Email me at lee@singleactions.com and I'll send you the write-up along with some photos. -Lee www.singleactions.com PS - Homer's first insert was on an...

    Berger 115 fb bullet?

Mike - your numbers support those ogives. For the same length bullet, the lower the ogive, the longer the bearing surface. The higher the ogive, the shorter the bearing surface. -Lee www.singleactions.com

    Berger 115 fb bullet?

I believe they're 8. Perhaps someone can confirm or correct that, but they're definitely higher than 7. -Lee www.singleactions.com

Are fully-floated barrels universal in centerfire benchrest?

Fully float the barrel and bed or glue the action. -Lee www.singleactions.com

    Lederer Barrels

Glad you got to see them being made Michael. I recently installed the tuner and centered the node. The gun still dots. And like I said, the above group was done in big wind. After 3 sighters, I put clicks into the scope and shot fast on one condition. The barrel kept sticking them same...

Thanks Mike. I actually took the photo with my phone (a Samsung Galaxy 7). -Lee www.singleactions.com

    Lederer Barrels

Seated the bullet long, chambered it, measured base to ogive, and noted that as jam length. Guess a lot of folks call that hard jam. Bumped seating depth 0.010" below that. -Lee www.singleactions.com

    Lederer Barrels

Jackie - the Stingray is an improved .30 Major. Shoulder is pushed forward 0.035" and the blown out to 40 degrees. I built this as a backup gun to my other Stingray for score shooting. -Lee www.singleations.com

    Lederer Barrels

Michael Turner had a thread going on Lederers, but it appears to have been archived. Finally got around to shooting one of the blanks I bought from him. Damn fine shooting barrel and talk about well lapped. I scoped it and it's one of the best finished bores I've seen. Shoots really tight...

    30 br

Last year I was waiting on bullet dies and all the custom makers were weeks out. In a pinch, I tried 125 gr Sierra Match Kings, 125 gr Sierra Pro Hunters, and 125 gr Speer TNTs in my .30 Stingray (just a .30 Major with a 40 degree shoulder and the datum pushed ahead another 0.035"). Here's how...

    LT-32 FF Load

To echo Rick's recommendation, I use 26.2 of LT-32 in my PPC fire-form brass (67 grain bullet). I don't know about the first batch of LT, but the lots I've shot past #4 have been pretty close. Mild differences over the chronograph. -Lee www.singleactions.com

Congratulations Bubba on 2 possible records.

Also worth noting - six of the top 10 stocks were by Doyle Anglin, including Richard's. And I agree.....this record, once official, will likely stand for some time. -Lee www.singleactions.com
