    Hines Jackets or J-4 Jackets.

I've done the same. Any bullet that doesn't feel right on core seat or point up gets put aside (those are a miniscule % of total). And I've shot those into the same hole as the "good". Since I make my own cores, I also experimented with weight variation. I purposely made a few of my 67 gr...

    Hines Jackets or J-4 Jackets.

A good friend just switched from Hines to J-4 (0.925" .30-cal on Ulrich dies). He can't tell a difference on paper.....they both shoot exceptionally tight. I think he said the J-4's were a grain+ lighter. I've been making my 6's and 30's on Hines and am very pleased. -Lee www.singleactions.com

    POA Strategy

I shoot groups the same way Tim. 6:00 POA on the mothball, but with POI just to the left. I prefer not shooting out my POI spot. -Lee www.singleactions.com

    Blc 1

As I recall, BLC-1 is the surplus version. They packaged it commercially from military contract leftovers. Once that ran out, they renamed it BLC-2. Hopefully someone can confirm that. If true, it'll be a tad slow for the PPC (though it has been tried). Works great in the .222 however...

    New reamer time!

I'll second Tim's suggestion. The 1045 is a proven design and you can change the neck diameter if you so choose (ex - I run a 1046 JGS which has a 0.264" neck, all other specs are pure 1045). Chamber the barrel, fire some brass 2 - 3 times, and send the cases to Harrells for a die. -Lee...

Mandrel v bushing dies on case necks?

I've never gone the madrel route, so I can't speak from experience. If your necks are properly turned, what's the advantage of undersizing with a bushing then finishing with a mandrel? I get the notion of pushing wall inconsistencies to the outside edge. But if the neck is turned correctly...

Mandrel v bushing dies on case necks?

I assume you're talking about re-sizing fired cases? If so, you can't do that with a mandrel. Mandrels expand, bushings reduce. -Lee www.singleactions.com

    Good day at the Range

I'm guessing here, but most lead wire will fill the jacket under pressure. That is, unless the antimony content is through the roof. I buy mine from Crown Metals in Milwaukee. They call it bullet wire, which is 99.25% lead and 0.75% antimony. I'm pretty sure Charlie uses the same. When I...

    Good day at the Range

Jackie - George set me up with pure anhydrous lanolin too. It works great and I've never had a need to change. What bullet weight did you settle on? I started with 114's and they shoot great (7 ogive Ulrich dies). But in the offseason I'm going to experiment with column height a little...

Using what you have on hand.

Nothing wrong with that Jackie. How much horsepower does that mill have? I know a lot of those old Lucas horizontals were 15hp+. I almost did a V block on my rail but went the delrin sleeve route instead. V's are nice for running different barrel diameters, but I chose to make a few sleeves...

    6mm American (Tooley)

+1 on getting a hold of Dave Tooley. I have some 6mm American cases formed from .30 American. The .30 American was just .30-30 Win with a small primer, done on high quality Federal brass. Most guys turned the rim and cut an extractor groove so they'd work in .308 or PPC bolt faces. -Lee...

IBS Score Shooter of the year standings

Thanks for posting this Todd. And congratulations to Jim, Brian, and Tori. Chris and I are travel partners and it was a blast watching her shoot this year. At 13, she never showed a hint of nerves. She has a really bright future in this sport. Chris & Tori at Orangeburg: -Lee...

    Scope for 100-400yds Groups

I own four March fixed powers and love them (a 40, a 50, and two 48s). They're not cheap, but are rock solid on POA and track like a dream. My 40 has nearly 10,000 rounds on it without incident (mostly .30 caliber). -Lee www.singleactions.com

    PacNor barrels suffers fire

Sad news indeed. Most of our Ruger Blackhawk conversions wear Pac Nor tubes. They made good barrels and customer service was always tops. -Lee www.singleactions.com

    Lt-31

I haven't mixed up any LT-31 so I can't speak to it. But I have used a fair amount of LT-30 and LT-32 in the PPC. They've shot so well I've never had a reason to try LT-31. I bet you'll find one that prints really tight in your barrel (with tuning of course). -Lee www.singleactions.com

    Any news from Mainville?

I don't have the full results sheet, but my good friend Chris Allen won HV 100.....and it was his first group match ever. Took it with his 30 BR score rig. -Lee www.singleactions.com

    Whidden dies?

They're fantastic dies. He did a FL bushing die for my .30 Stingray and it turned out perfect. Squeezes 0.001" up towards the shoulder junction and 0.0006" at the base. Most importantly, they size dead concentric. Just sent him 3 or 4 cases that have been fired 3 times or so. -Lee...

    We Haven't Had A Good Car Thread In A While...........My '67 Chevelle

Never saw Ivo's four Buick run in person Jackie, but I've seen pictures. Talk about tire smoke. I did see the car in person however at Garlits' museum. I took a bunch of close-up pictures. I'll post them here once I dig them out. -Lee www.singleactions.com
