What to focus on to improve performance?

Hugh, As I read your post, I was thinking of how I practice. I typically go to the range to tune my guns, not to “shoot” groups. I don’t use a timer, and seldom shoot 5 shot groups until the very end of my practice session. I wonder how the Top Shooters practice, i.e., when not at a match.

What to focus on to improve performance?

It really does come back to the question, how does one improve? Again discounting barrels and bullets. As I ponder over my results last year, I got to go back to two opportunities which I didn’t execute well. First, not accepting the fact that my tune was going (or gone) when I was shooting...

What to focus on to improve performance?

MKS, I like your idea on the metrics. I did just that when I first started shooting, comparing my aggs to Joe Krupa’s aggs (Joe is a HOF shooter). I guess today, my goal is to finish in the top 10 in all aggs, and I try to win the grands.

What to focus on to improve performance?

Hi Joe, As you know I can’t watch the flags while on down on the scope. So I focus on watching the entire range waiting for the best condition to run my group. However, this year my load left me to frequently for me to agg good. I guess if I had to do all over, I would say I had tuned my...

What to focus on to improve performance?

As a lifetime golfer, each year I’ve always tried to focus on one part of my game to improve my scores and/or at least maintain my performance as I age (a tough task to say the least). Like drives in the fairway, or number of putts per round, etc. In benchrest group shooting, what do you “top...

    Save The NBRSA?

Without an organized means of measuring targets and having match rules and procedures, the running of matches with some level of consistency between ranges would become irrelevant. The achievement of world records would become uncontrollable and non-manageable. Now many clubs and shooters may...

Any feedback on the Bat Neuvo Action?

Hi all, I will be shooting a Neuvo HV at WWCCA this weekend for the first time. I would agree on Gary's assessment ( ...the action is smooth). The barrel and tune will make it shoot. ? Wish me luck. Lee

    NBRSA and good standing members

Really Lou? That's how you feel? Again, to each their own. In the big picture of life, I enjoy shooting competive matches. Whether NBRSA or IBS, I'm a member of both! If this issue bothers you so much then, "see ya". Enjoy shooting non-registered matches or whatever you have in your area...

A warning for all NBRSA Members

It didn't sound like hearsay to me..., and I don't hear Rodney denying any of what Gene posted.

A warning for all NBRSA Members

I agree Larry. "The Russians are coming..., the Russians are coming. Emergency! Everyone to get from street!"

A warning for all NBRSA Members

Really Jim, that's how you feel? Ok, to each their own. I'm not worrying about total inconsequential concerns in the big picture of my life!

    NBRSA and good standing members

Hi Jim, As an association member (like you), we all had an opportunity to vote for our Regional Directors to represent us. As such, we authorize them to make sound decisions on our behalf for the good of the organization. I agree, expelling an individual from an organization should not be...

    NBRSA and good standing members

Hi Larry, Thank you for the kind words. I had a chance to speak to my NBRSA Regional Director yesterday, and I "now" understand the rationale for dismissal. I would suggest you (and all concerned) do the same. Since the competitive shooting season is winding down, I would like to wish all...

    NBRSA and good standing members

Sounds like a lot of people are jumping to conclusions without "any" of the facts (so typical on social media). Those that have suggested leaving the NBRSA..., all I can say is, "see ya"! Enjoy traveling to the east to shoot your few group matches. ? I also don't use an alias for my name.

Wow! Gary had a .018? Was it 5 shot target, with backer? Someone, please post a pic of the targets.

    WWCCA match results 6/10-6/11 2017 ?????

Extreme temperatures (for Michigan), made it a challenge to stay in tune and handle the mirage. Ted dominated the entire weekend. Great shooting!

    29th ANNUAL HOG ROAST

Again, Fairchance understood what was required and just didn't execute the work. I shot there twice last year, and the restroom conditions were unacceptable for any venue. Let's hope that those that are so concerned and comment on this issue show up at the Hog Roast in May! See you there, Lee

    29th ANNUAL HOG ROAST

Sounds a lot like CNN (people without the facts and those holding personal grudges making statements). What happened at Fairchance was well understood by all parties. What we can all do now, is support the club by attending the Hog Roast!
