    Button rifled barrel question

Gotcha. In your opinion does Douglas lap their barrels pretty good?

    Button rifled barrel question

Would anyone know where the tooling marks that are perpendicular to the bore axis come from on a button barrel by chance? I always thought once you pulled the button through the bore was totally and completely smoothed out; is that not the case?

McMillan benchrest record question from a history buff

Hey guys, I'm a history nut and love reading about the ways things used to be. (I think because I admire the old school generations before me) Would anyone have any idea what rifle/barrel/stock and reloading methods were used by Mac McMillan to set his record in 1973 by chance? I can't find a...

    Front joystick rest options

Anyone know of any intermediate quality/price front joystick rest options that are above the little Caldwell joystick rest for $235 (dont trust it) and the 3000 dollar jewel encrusted super rare aluminum models (even though aluminum is the 3rd most abundant element in the earth's crust) made in...

    Anyone Interested in Buying Benchrest.com?

No please GOD dont put this place under that site... That site is FULL of glitches and my computer has all SORTS of problems with it, not to mention their vetting process is so unnecessarily intrusive.

    Wipeout

Most people don't do long, thorough testing with bore chemicals because it's a boring, mundane subject. I am also surprised to still see how many people don't borescope. I can tell you this from cleaning barrels since the early 90's, that quite a few chemicals out there will produce a colored...

Secrets of the houston warehouse bullet jump question

Well when I test these new loads with a little bit of jam in the lands and it works and doesnt blow up, and then I start the load ladders and begin at the lowest in the manual, and say work my way all the way up and everything stays together, then one day someone asks how it works I'll tell...

Secrets of the houston warehouse bullet jump question

True, while not a black art, can still be dangerous if you dont know the proper limits. When reading around on the internet for jamming the lands recipes, they alllllways say 'pressure spikes', but then NEVER tell you how, when, where, or what to do to mitigate it lol. Well ok, pressure...

Secrets of the houston warehouse bullet jump question

I see. Quick question; what do you or your friends do to their powder charges when they want to jam the lands hard? Do you reduce the charge, or change powder?

Secrets of the houston warehouse bullet jump question

In regards to that fantastic read titled "Secrets of the Houston Warehouse", I have a question about bullet jump. I hear that the old lore was, the most accurate combinations pretty much always involve jam and not jump. Even in that article. But now, I see that jump is the new trend, reading...

Where and who to ask about technical bullet seating depth

Thank you for that. I appreciate it! On the seating depths vs pressure thing; I understand it's chamber dependent, but pressure spikes coming from seating too far into the lands is a thing on every chamber. I was just curious if the super basic load info given in reloading manuals like my...

Where and who to ask about technical bullet seating depth

Understood. I was hoping for more concrete answers though. So it's a 'load to minimum charge and pray' kinda thing?

Where and who to ask about technical bullet seating depth

This is for basically all calibers and all rifles. It's a theory/fundamental question with no specific rifle in mind. I'm looking for absolute minimums and maximums. Precisely how far out can I seat a bullet in the neck? I hear one caliber's worth. Quantify that. Why. What happens if I...

Where and who to ask about technical bullet seating depth

Hello. Just starting out in hand loading, and I'm trying to figure out the technical limits of bullet seating depth so that I don't ruin anything. Not looking for "It's in the manual" because I've already looked. Anyone know who or where I could ask questions like this to? I know I have to...
