    bausch and lomb 36x

personally I would not use a fixed power scope, I sometimes need to turn em down just to get a sight picture of where the target is, I think with a fixed you would struggle alot more than with a variable. I have used the Leupolds and NF scopes, to me, the NF are a better scope for BR...

We all shoot but do we all hunt?

Hunting was not handed down in my family, my dad took me as a kid deer hunting and upon shooting my first buck I saw the sadness in his eyes, for the loss of life. I seemed to pick up the urge to hunting out of the blue, same with fishing. I live in Northern Wyoming and could not...

    284 win gurus....dies question.

I like the Redding type S full length dies with the bushings, you will lose some thickness when expanding up the 6.5 brass. you can purchase all the components except the bushings and expierment then purchase the bushings. I think you will have plenty of clearance with the Lapua, Maybe...

Buying older kegs of powder, safe or not safe????

I am just looking for opinions, I have a chance to buy 2 kegs of powder, a 50 pounder and a 100 pounder, they are unopened and have been stored in a basement for a good number of years, the powder is H4831 and appears to be surplus. Any of you guys have experience and opinions please...

    300 ultra mag

Max, I do not know, its according to your twist rate, you can check that with a cleaning rod and a patch, it will tell you pretty close what it is, just mark it and measure the length that it takes to make a full turn in your barrel, that will tell you. You should check your...

    300 ultra mag

I would try any of the 190 to 210 grain long range style bullets, I have a couple friends that have alot of fun with that exact rifle. Ron Tilley

    280 Ackley

Deane, mine is set up for Lapua .243 brass necked up, and a .292 neck throated for the 140 grain Berger vld bullets. Simple set up and its a Henrikson reamer. Very good quality. need anything else, do not hesitate. Ron Tilley

    280 Ackley

Deano 29, mine have all been very accurate, I have never pushed them any harder than 2850fps with the 180 grainers, I think you probably will max out very near that. I was able to place at the NBRSA 1000 yard nationals in Reno NV shooting a range I never shot at before and it was the...

    280 Ackley

I have used the .280 improved quite alot, a really good choice. in my Benchrest guns, I used Re22 and was able to load around 57 to 57.5 grains of the above powder, it would push the 180 grain vld Bergers at 2850fps in a 5r barrel. not at all unhappy with that choice. Good luck...

feeding questions for a Ackley chamber in a Remington 700 LONG action

My question is will a .260 Ackley feed better from a long action or short action, I have both and would hope not to have to modify the feed rails if I can avoid it. it is a repeater and will be fed from factory bdl style mag. Thank you, Ron Tilley

Quality of .300 WSM Winchester and Federal brass

I would almost echo al's opinion to choose between the two you mentioned, Winchester will serve you better. I think the flash holes are the weak spot in the Win brass, they have been for me usually not centered and oval. I would search hard for the Norma tho, I think it is the best...

    portable benches

Rich De shared his bench design with me a few years ago, our club built them and they are a perfect portable design but very solid. The key to them being solid is by a 3 leg design, not 4. Ron Tilley

    300 wm twist rate

I have went with Bartlien,Krieger, and Rock Creek, Have had great results with all three. Wait time would not play into my equation, as I would want the best, and in my opinion they are the best! Good luck with your build.

    280AI bushing size!

I just measured my Nosler brass loaded with the 140 accu-bond bullets, and am spot on with Mike, mine averaged .3096, and just a couple that were larger. It is very good grass to me. Ron Tilley
