    Sad news

My condolences to the Raide family. And to you Tim, I know you two were pretty close. Only had the pleasure of shooting with Bob twice, at Easthampton. Seemed like a no nonsense, not politically correct,& comically grumpy kinda guy. The two of you were quite a pair! Sorry for your loss. Keith

Wallkill Rod & Gun Club IR5050 Matches will be hwld, but LIMITED to 8 SHOOTERS

I would make sure my regulars, the one's that have been there all along, have the opportunity to shoot. I'd like to be a fly on the wall if you had to be turned away from Camillius because the roster was full before you got there. You come on out to Maine Tim, I'll have a spot for you. I might...

Wallkill Rod & Gun Club IR5050 Matches will be hwld, but LIMITED to 8 SHOOTERS

Sounds like Bob's in a tough spot, as we all are trying to figure out how to go about things in these times. Tim, you know there isn't such a rule. And I get your point, & agree with it. On the other hand, how would it be fair to those that are in it for the SOTY to be asked to stay home as the...

    Need advice testing ammo.

Zane, are you using flags? I know a while back you were looking for some. Sounds like there could be something wrong with the bench if its flexing. Must be pretty piss poor unless you're leaning on it. Reinforce it until you come up with a better bench. Or look for a club that has decent...

Straightening a 10 inch diameter Rudder stock.

Jackie, is it common to see them bent at the coupling end? It just seems like its so far up the driveline I would have thought it were uncommon. I realize something likely stopped the shaft & there's tons of torque there. What did the prop end look like? Also I suppose there's a limit as to...

    Al Hadfield

I always enjoyed Al's sense of humor, appreciated his advise, & am thankful to have known him. We are truly diminished! My condolences to Penny & family. Rest in Peace Al Keith

    IR 50/50 Sporters

New Sporters I along with others were remiss in not mentioning the gunsmith who built the rifle that won this years Sporter Indoor Nationals. Jeremiah Mohr built Jasons rifle, along with others, & all preformed extremely well. He also builds some of the most elegant stocks on a sporter I'd ever...

    weaver T series 46

Lee, a friend of mine bought one 2 seasons ago & it has been trouble free. No spotting of the lenses whatsoever. I've looked thru it & it crystal clear. Good value for the money imo. I've had a 36xr for a few years it has no issues with it either. The only real issue is that there is no more...

Rimfire Benchrest rifles (Calfee SPEC rifles)

Tony Another question. Did the rifles wearing the stock & barrel today become Spec rifles or Calfee guns? I think its the same answer. And another. I put a used Langley barrel on a Turbo action that had a Borden stamped barrel on it when I got it. I had to remove .002 from the breech What is it...

Greenlaw adjustable bags versus Edgewood 1 piece.

I've had the Greenlaw & Randolph adjustable tops & while great for multiple width forends I prefer a 1 pc. bag & separate tops. I did like the thicker bags on the Greenlaw over the Randolph as it gave a little more room to take sand out to help conform to a convex stock. Keith

    Practice versus match ammo.

Keep in mind that the majority of us are shooting either Eley Match or Midas+. Won’t take long for you to figure out shooting 10x & getting your arse handed to you it isn’t worth it. Keith

I need a one piece redt

Lee, I’ve not shot off the Stiller so can’t speak of those. I’ve heard they’re nice. I didn’t care for the Papas I had but didn’t try a different top either. Randolph makes a nice one pc. There is one for sale on Rimfire Accuracy now. Also, Cliff Arnold make a nice one. Heard nothing but...

I got beat up today by a 7mm Mag

I bought a plastic stocked Savage 110 with a hard rubber buttpad, might as well been a piece of oak, in 7mm Magnum several years ago. Shot 3 shots & said screw this, went home & ordered a Pachmyer Decelerator?? & installed it to shoot off the remaining 17 rounds. Traded the gun thereafter & have...

    Crawfish Shoot

Thump, I'm saddened to hear this! The Crawfish has been on my List for several years & for many reasons just hasn't worked out. The lure to it without you running it is now greatly diminished. It has been an honor to have met you & always looked fwd to seeing you at Kettlefoot. Best wishes to...

    front rest or bipod ?

There is a group down in SW VA that competes with them & do very well. In the Top 5 at the Nationals well sometimes. Maybe George can explain their bipods as I'm not sure if they are custom or not. Bipods aren't a disadvantage for them. Keith

    .50 BMG Torque

I was told years ago that in either the Model A or T service manuals the length of the wrench was specified for torque. Don't know never read one but I'm guessing they figured the average guy could get X torque with a certain size wrench. Pete, an 8in wrench works just fine for rimfire barrels...
