The crown in question is countersunk, but flat, it looks fine with a bore scope. If memory serves me correctly Winchester 52 Target rifles had flat crowns.

Is there any certain crown style thats better than others? I have a rifle now that has a flat crown, no chamfer and wondered if thats a normal thing.

Its great for metal protection, makes blued guns look like glass, its does ok on wood to but I like Johnsons best for wood stocks

See a lot of posts about this subject on the various shooting forums, I kinda like Leupold myself, is there such a thing as a good lower priced scope for rimfire? fixed or variable that tracks well and holds POI ?
