    Border Barells

Meanwhile.............Border Barrels have of course been sold quite recently and Geoff Kolbe is no longer involved. The new owner was exhibiting at the European IWA Shooting Show earlier in the year. They have relocated to a new address in Birmingham, England.

    Barrel Block ?

Roland - if you PM me on vinceb@targetshooteronline.com I can send you an article with pics that I did on the stock for Target Shooter magazine. I have two complete barrelled-actions for my stock - swapping over takes only minutes. Vince

    Barrel Block ?

Hombre, have a look at the True-flite (New Zealand) barrel-block stocks. I've built a couple of rifles on these. The whole stock is CNC'd from aluminium so they are too heavy for a short range benchgun but good for 600/1000 yd BR or an F Open rifle. All the work is done, just turn a...

Question on scopes for 600 and 1000 yard matches

I still prefer the Sightron for eye-relief if shooting fast. I do have a fixed-power 40X March on my 100/200 yard 6PPC gun which is great. Vince (UK)

Question on scopes for 600 and 1000 yard matches

If your going to use a 6mm Dasher at 1000 yards you will know you need to run the gun pretty quick - which means instant target acquisition. Although a superb F Class scope, I found the 10-60 March much too critical with eye-relief. I much prefer my 8-32 Sightron. The 10-50 Sightron is also...

    6.5 saum

I know it's annoying when you ask a specific question and someone relies to another question but, as no one has answered - I haven't had a 6.5 SAUM but I did run a 6.5 WSM for F Open. i was shooting 139gn Lapua Scenars at 3400fps. using RL25. It was a superb round but barrel-life? Worse than...

    What's Under Your F-TR Bipod?

Why didn't I think of that? Nice one Seb. Vince (UK)

    Bipod choices for F/TR.?

Choosing an FTR bi-pod is all about weight. Also - when you are prone, a lot of bi-pod are not easy to adjust. If weight wasn't a problem the 4lb. Canadian Remple would be used by everyone! But, weight is a problem - with most shooters preferring to put the weight into the barrel rather than...

Precision Shooting, The Accurate rifle and tactical shooter

Curly - I don't think you are alone - we all miss PS. And, I wonder - what are all those great amateur PS writers doing now? Four years ago, we lost our only decent target shooting mag. in the UK and a couple of us started Target Shooter. www.targetshooter.co.uk - available on-line via an...

    colchester student 1800 lathe

I use a Colchester Student. One thing - make sure it is an IMPERIAL lathe not metric. The seller will tell you that it will cut both metric and imperial threads - he's correct but you need an imperial lathe, otherwise it makes cutting imperial threads up to a (barrel) shoulder a bit tedious.

    Is benchrest dying?

Patrick, You need to look outside the USA - benchrest is growing. The last 'Worlds' I attended in France in 2011 had over twenty countries taking part. No other fullbore shooting discipline has this much world interest. It may be in a 'trough' in the USA but elsewhere, it's thriving. Vince...

Big news about lighter BR scopes from current issue of Target Shooter magazine

I must admit, I tend to use the thick end of the barrel, then it gives me the opportunity to re-chamber - but, I can end up with some shortish barrels! Vince

Big news about lighter BR scopes from current issue of Target Shooter magazine

Hi Boyd, Thanks for your kind comments on Target Shooter magazine. Like Precision Shooting, we are dependent on shooters submitting articles. We have a healthy readership in the USA and if anyone would like to submit something (where are all those great PS writers?) we'd love to print it -...

Big news about lighter BR scopes from current issue of Target Shooter magazine

Hi Boyd, I didn't make it up - the blurb said they had reduced the weight to 17 ounces (actually it was given in grams). Out of contention? - It was with me! My LV rifle weighs 9lbs 7oz without scope! Why would they reduce the weight I wonder if everyone was happy with it before? VinceB (UK)
