Here is an AutoCAD drawing of mine that I made, complete with dimensions. The bearing I used is just a standard R8 bearing. I think I got them off eBay for like $5 or so.

I'd work my way up to 800 and try the finest compound they make. For a mirror finish...I start at 600 to 800 and then 1200. Finish with tripoli compound on a stiff buffing wheel, then to green compound, red rouge then finally white on a soft wheel.

Lee...what sander did you end up going with?

I agree. What works for me is 600 then 800, then 1200 and buffer for the bling!

I've been having fabulous results with my Kalamazoo 1x42 belt sander. Belts take all of 10 seconds to change and no problems with belts rolling off. Fast, easy and doesn't spin the barrel at warp speeds in an instant. Belts are cheap AMD very easy to get. Funny thing is, I find myself using...

    Titanium Screws for benchrest stand

Bob, no need to grind anything. The carbide centers come already ground at 60°. All you have to do is face your screws, bore a slightly undersized hole and press them in. They can be purchased at MSC for a few $$$ and come in different sizes. My rest legs are 1/2-20 and wear 3/8" carbide...

Butch, Lee...do you guys sharpen your AR Warned threading bits all? I know the point of index tooling is to rotate and throw out when finished. The reason I ask, my threading bit shows a decent radius on the tip wondering how long you use till you rotate. I know if my ground HSS bit looked...

Well...I got everything done and its a functional barrel spinner. I must say, it works pretty darn well. The Kalamazoo belt sander does a wonderful job...I just need to bolt it down, lol. There is definitely a learning curve involved with using a spinner and I can see how a barrel can get...

    Barrel spinner/ polishing aid

Well, I am happy to report back that the prong thingy worked pretty darn good. Cleaned the hole out the best I could, heated the aluminum with a heat gun for about a minute, stuck the prongs down the flutes and turned it out with not problems at all. Finished tapping the hole with a high...

    Powder scale accruacy

I just received my A&D scale and you really can't compare it against the GemPro. I used the GemPro 250 for about two years and it wasn't bad. It was accurate, drifted occasionally and pretty reliable. It had to be on 24-7 to get consistency out of it. During a loading session, 50...

I ordered one of those prong thingy tap removers for a #8 tap. I ordered from Enco and of course I had to fill my cart enough to qualify for free shipping! Anyhow, ordered a new Hertel 8-32 tap and a better T-Handle. If it don't come out, no biggie, I can offset another hole along side the...

Tapping was pretty easy...I had cutting fluid all over my hands and turning the T handle. I'd turn 1/4 turn, back up, turn 1/4 back up, repeat until finished. Well, my hand slipped off the t handle bar and wacked the wrench! Not good, lol. I got you on your square...you are just offsetting...
