    Most popular 6PPC action

Just my 2 cents but Bat, Borden and Kelbly are safe bets that you can't go wrong with using. I'm a Borden fan but there are several more options out there today and some are good. Those three have proven good quality and since most are familiar with them and know that, they have good resale...

Barrel dimensions for benchrest centre fire

Both a LV and a HV RIFLE share the same max bbl dimensions. The problem is weight. You'll be more than hard pressed to make LV weight limits with a HV bbl.

Build your perfect SR Score rifle

Yeah, recoil and quality custom bullets are the two biggest reasons we don't see more people playing with things like that or maybe a 338BR, or similar. A standard 30BR is somewhere very near max practical recoil in a gun built for true accuracy, and that's only with premium bullets that are up...

    Rifle Balance

It's why my tuner is made to attach the way it is! It's intended to MANAGE vibration, not to stop it! The late Gene Bukys and I had a couple of debates on this subject. He claimed his pinch bolt tuner design didn't move. I had the benefit of testing and seeing it with my own eyes with fancy test...

    Rifle Balance

Hindsight is 20/20 but if you had used a machinable material, you could've tapped a hole in it to remove it with. ;) Al did a great job of explaining what I believe is an ideal weight system design..or very near it. I think it's ideal for several reasons, some less obvious reasons and some...

    Rifle Balance

I much prefer to attach the weight to the butt plate and being machinable is a big deal in this regard. I've seen stocks destroyed by a weight getting loose in the back end because it wasn't attached. Most of us don't have the ability to machine tungsten carbide. Copper/tungsten alloy is the way...

    Rifle Balance

I use 70/30 or 65/35 copper tungsten alloy rod that can be found on ebay. It's machinable and still almost as heavy as tungsten carbide. Not cheap but about 1.5x the weight of lead. It just works well. Lead shot and epoxy can be mixed on a budget but you won't get the same weight from it.

    22 ARC vs 6 ARC vs 6PPC

Less than a br. Closer to a ppc but close to middle, depending a little on which variation. Either way, a grendel is a .070 long ppc and the 6 ARC is even between those while the 22 arc retains greandel datum length. Bottom line, I look at a 6 Grendel as nothing more than a 6 PPC on streoids and...

    22 ARC vs 6 ARC vs 6PPC

A 22 ARC is exactly a 22 Grendel and a 6 ARC is a shortened Grendel, .040 IIRC, which would make it a ppc + .030 long. Been shooting a 6 Grendel in BR for a few years now and have won multiple national aggs with it. Just started playing with a 22 Grendel aka ARC. It's fast and has potential...

Seating depth question for custom chamber

Didn't say that. SAAMI length is set and all mags must fit ammo at that length but not all mags are the same. The saami is minimum, not max.

    Full Length Re-sizing Questions

Not sure what "no size" means but the days of only neck sizing are long gone in the br world. Virtually everyone full length sizes and most use a bushing die that also sizes the body.

    Full Length Re-sizing Questions

I look at my bullet as being a mandrel and clearance on the od of the neck is just that...clearance.

Seating depth question for custom chamber

AFAIK, the only thing SAAMI has to do with this is that ammo at that length should fit in ALL mags but has nothing to do with the mag length of YOUR gun, nor throat length being a specific length. It could be a short action or a long action. Obviously, the same ammo should fit both mags...

    Custom bullet jackets

I didn't see any specifics but I'll try to look further when I have time. Thanks

    Full Length Sizing Question

No need to turn the brass for it to fit, hopefully, with proper and adequate clearance.. It's been working great for a few years now, with a National championship and maybe a couple of national yardage wins on top of that. I'm not the only one toying with it again and seeing good results.
