I just got a text from a friend asking "what's a rebarreled Win Model 51 'Imperial' worth?"

I'm at a bitofa' loss.....don't know exactly what to tell him except that rebarreling it was a crime!

any comments?

308 Norma......which makes me wonder......

Was there ever a market for P14-based fakes?

I'm getting some pix cuz, yeahh.....24 ever made.....

Never heard of a Win 51

but there's lots I haven't heard about. If its really true that a few were made the it wouldn't have been in 308 Norma Mag as that cartridge wasn't introduced until 1960 or so and the info on the net says the 51 was real early production...if it is true.

What is the value of an 1870 crowbar?

I read there were 24 of these rifles produced. They were chambered in 30/06, 27 Winchester (latter called 270 Winchester), and 35 Newton. The Model 51 was an early forerunner to the model 70. I wonder if the rifle in question was chambered in the 35 Newton and someone wanted a more useful caliber. I wonder how many 35 Newtons were made out of that two dozen. I wonder how many of this model are left out there.

I heard the heavy Hawkins' rifles were discarded and many were used as pry bars on the railroad when breach loading rifles were introduced. It is the American way. "When a thing is out of date it is tossed out." I am wondering what an 1870 crowbar is worth today?

Burry it in the sand for a thousand years and it priceless.
