will this pump work/ flush system

I thought ya'll were talking about a closed system. You would have to pump the oil back in the tank under the air. We had an old steering system on a tug boat built in the fifties with similar setup.

Nope. not a closed loop system. Just filter the oil, unpressurize and refill.
You would want to well filter the oil since any metal fines can scar the chamber and the reamer.
