Well, I'm not Wilbur, and I suppose we're on each other's ignore list, but I'll give my feelings without prejudice just this once. Maybe it's what they call a "communications thing," but I doubt it.
First, there is a difference between "new to BR Central" and "New to Benchrest." The "new to benchrest" guys need careful help and encouragement. The experienced, but new to the forum, are on their own.
There are several kinds of abrasiveness too. I have one. You have another, the "I'm always right and your opinion doesn't count" one. You talk about moderators as "having power." I don't think any of us, about minute 5 after Wilbur told us we were moderators, thought about power, except in the "Oh $hit" context.
Recent examples of what I mean -- which may not be what you meant, but it sure comes across that way:
Guy wants to know what bag works best with his Borden stock. We say "Ask Borden" You say, "Nonsense. I know the answer" and give it. Then Jim comes on & says, "uh, actually, I do things a bit differently..."
Guy wants to know about the cruiser rifles. If you pay attention to the board, you know he shoots 600 yards, and can probably simulate shooting a cruiser himself without any more cash layout. He would learn something from that. But you say "Nonsense. Don't bother. A rail is it."
This answer to a maiden's prayer attitude don't cut it with me, and I'm abrasive enough to say so. If I thought it was miscommunication, I'd say that. I will allow I could be wrong.
