Whats the latest best

sorry but the rifle and the test are not critical enough to make the determination.
from a bipod at 600 with some bolt gun...shot not as a group but the very invaild round robin...the conditions change.
bottom line, invalid test for benchrest shooters short or long range.

See this video
They concluded no significant differences for :

Prometheus-- Auto Trickler-- Chargemaster-- Hornady-- Harrells

Best buy was the Chargemaster for the $

Electronic powder dispenser? I'd like something more accurate than my old Chargebastard if one exists.

Pete

Have you tried the insert (not a straw) in the chargemaster? It really helped mine, I get much more consistent throws now. It is not perfect but is much better!

I have had a straw for years

but I am going to try the cut off cartridge or make up a reducer of some sort. mebby a threaded something or rather would help keep the clumps from forming although it happens with the electric trickler as well.

My Chargemaster is not as accurate as some.

By the way, I now think the ChargeMaster Lite is a better system foe range loading. The wind guard is superior to the bigger unit, and I think they redesigned the tube so that kernels don’t fall out so easily when the tube isn’t turning.

I have to both agree and respectfully disagree somewhat. In this test the velocity is a good indicator of the uniformity. I agree there are too many variables in play for the actual groupings to be of much value.

You’ll have to excuse “retired” if that is what he said. He isn’t really a shooter. A true shooter recognizes the fact that uniform powder charge is just one aspect of shooting.
And he should know that coloring should be left in the coloring books.

Hey Pete

Doesn’t the powder dispenser rely on commands from a 0.1 scale?
Mikeinco said that you need a scale that goes to 0.01grains.

Deleted those two posts because two of my favorite folks were headed for internet blows. At least it looked like it to me. Doesn't matter if you argue about something....try not to get personal.

In reality, there's too many variables for anything to be of much value. I do know this for sure...in the group game, the group size is the only thing that matters. On the other hand, I realize this discussion is not at all about competition group shooting but rather powder weight. If you think powder weight is the end all, by all means get the best "measure" you can afford.

is one of the variables. We have the opportunity to control it and a couple more items that will give us the very best chance of achieving the best accuracy possible. One has only to think about the fuel systems of the rockets that propelled out space exploration. Did they hap haphazardly dump into the engines and say this is good enough? Without knowing exactly? I'm guessing it was measured pretty dern closely all weighed and measured. Here we are, with a chance for perfection and yet many are of the good enough mentality. We insist on tiny stack-able error in the machining process of our rifles yet the fuel for them is left up to "Good Enough". Makes no sense.

Yeah, that's like the old saying,"why measure with a micrometer if you're going to mark it with a grease pencil and then cut it with an axe".
