What Kind of Lathe Do You Use For Gunsmithing?

Ever ponder on how they might have cut gears & machined chucks back then?

I've been into some of the big shops, generally water or steam powered and everything running off massive overhead driveshafts........ just because the little stuff is underpowered doesn't mean the big stuff was!

And some good work was done.

I'm kinda' making a point here and my point is that good work is an operator function NOT a machine function :)

Good equipment only makes life EASIER and FASTER, not better.

In the learning stage now, making fixtures and jigs for practice

somewhere around the house I have a set of manuals for the next size bigger lathe. I ended up with a mint condition one a few years back, and ended up ordering in the manuals just to figure the thing out (it's very different). If I can find them, I'll give them to you.
