What is the best CRF action to build on?

I agree. A solution to a problem that wasnt there. I want my the pressure from the case to square everything up anyhow. Why would I want the bolt to stay cocked in the action? I know its a small amount, but now the bolt face isnt even square. Either way, cant say I like anything about it.

I wondered about the out-of-square bolt face too. But I'm about 100% certain Ted thought about it also, and somewhere has made an allowance for it. Heck...I'd bet the end of my brass is more out of square/inconsistent than his bolt face.

The scope rail and rings look rock-solid to me, though it might take a Morse taper-type wedge to remove it.

I will admit that these are not Mickey Mouse like the Mooserfield.
Would you like a photo of My Satterlee?

Stu copied them from a Mauser and a mod 70 type trigger . He makes them in titanium also. Unfortunately mine was SS and I traded it to Roger Vardy, my Walnut stock blank guy in Australia. Stu added double square bridges also.

Huhh, OK, bad assumption! I just jumped to Chrome Moly "because that's what an action like that is made of"....

Went to the site. 1000 for an integral bolt handle, niice! I think ordering one with the two-piece bolt would be just criminal now....

Pretty sure he makes them in CM also. Granite Mountain makes them in CM. Stu Satterlee's receivers are sold caliber specific. Bolt face, follower, and receiver are machined for a specific caliber.

Well, I learned something......I wasn't aware of the LAW action and am happy to have learned of it. If I were in the market today I think I'd try one.

Might just anyway

Thank You ndh78

Al,
Nick Hughes is one of the better custom gunmakers. At the present it is a side line.He has done some beautiful work on my 416 Rigby on a 1917 Enfield. Much nicer receiver than a mooserfeld.
