John, you are not the first to suggest that tuners offer only a 'minute return.' I strongly disagree; I know the benefit is very significant and have found that keeping the rifle in tune is the biggest challenge of all for the short-range (100 & 200 yd., group shooters) even more so than reading wind and mirage.
Most experienced group shooters can read the wind, but often blame poor groups on missed conditions, when in fact, their rifle is not in tune. If a good shooter goes to the line with a block of cartridges that are what I call, 180 degrees out of tune, and he has no tuner with which to correct the situation, he is stuck with about a .375 group before firing a shot, even if he does everything else perfect!
I assure you, the benefits of a good tuner and knowing how to use it are very significant.
