Tikka T3 barrel thread

What is the diameter and pitch of the thread in a Tikka T3 action. I have seen both a metric dimension and English dimension. Anyone know which it REALLY is?

Youll have to just measure it they do come both ways.

Thanks for the reply. I'm kind of between a rock and a hard spot here. My lathe is an older Clausing, and not capeable of meteric threads. I hate to tear this fellows rifle down, only to tell him the project is a no-go. Is there a known specific serial number series of the two threads? That would help a lot.

For metric threads leave half nut engaged and withdraw at end of cut, run in reverse to pickup starting point...

I guess my personal 595 is a collectors item. On the metric ones for myself i usually recut the threads. A 16 cleans the grime off half and barely cuts the other half

This has been discussed before. Yes, it's metric, but so close to 16 TPI that it doesn't matter. That a look at:

Methinks that you are preaching to the choir, Steve Kostanich taught machine shop classes for what, over 20 years?

I'm pretty sure that he knows what his lathe can and can't do....
