The Isabella County Sportsman's Club (Mt. Pleasant, MI) hosted a 100 yard score shoot on Saturday, Sept 9, 2017.
The match was sponsored by Jay's Sporting Goods of Clare, MI and the Isabella County Sportsman's Club.
Twenty one competitors showed up to shoot the benign looking conditions which turned out to be a challenge for many of us.
I would like to thank Mike Johnston, Steve Robbins, Jim Militello, Harry Ross, Geoff Schmidt, Ken Bombalski, and Dick Wright for helping with the range setup, target scoring, and all the other little things that make a great match possible! Thank you to the 13th power! And to any others that I may have missed!
Dudley Pierce cleaned house winning both the VFS class (Firing A 250-20x) and the Factory Class (249-11X)! Dudley hauled in two $20 Jay's Gift Certificates, $40.00 cash for winning both classes, and two Isabella Sportsman's Club winner's pins! His hands were full after I handed him his winnings! Congratulations Dudley! You are a great shooter and a class act for sure!
No onto the spoils...
VFS Class -
Second place was tied down by the Ship's Captain, Rob Fairbanks with a 250-20X. Rob drove down with Kurt Schultz all the way from Rogers City where Rob plies his trade as a Great Lakes Ship's Captain. He has been very busy this past week as there has been a lot of traffic on Lake Huron and Lake Michigan. Rob took in $10 bucks for his 2nd place efforts. Third place was nailed down by Dale Burtch (driving all the way down from Tawas with his sidekick Andy Taber) with his fine 250-19X. Dale won $5 bucks for his 3rd place finish.
Factory Class -
Second place was won by Dan Ryan firing a fine 242-2X. Dan's second place finish earned him $10 bucks cash. Way Da Go Dan! Finishing out the payout spots in third place was Geoff Schmidt. Geoff fired a 242-2X and won $5.
The Sandbagger class (last place) in the VFS class was won by Ken Bombalski firing a 243-9X. Ken's efforts earned him the 8 Ball which we are now awarding to the last place finishers in both classes. Jimmy Guinn won last place in the Factory Class with his 232-4X. His last place finish earned him an 8 Ball as well. The 8 Balls are lettered with the appropriate information so that the winners cannot forget about the time that they finished dead last. Ken and Jim have balls!
The winner of the score section of the $50 Brian Albee Memorial Award is none other than Jim Dyke! Jim shot a 250-23X earlier in the season and it has stood up to a lot of scores. But none have surpassed his. Congratulations Jim!
Attached are the results.
Our last match of the season is September 23 and will be a 25 shot group match. The leader for the group section of the Brian Albee Memorial $50 Memorial Award is Kurt Schultz with a 0.096" group.
