The wife was "supposed" to crop me out of the photo.

Gene shipped it to me last week, but I've been too busy to shoot it yet. Maybe in a few weeks.

Who made the tuner ? One thing for sure you will not ding up the wood !

This is my first post here.
May I ask some questions about your rifle.
What metal is the stock made from ,and how heavy is it (both the stock and complete rifle) ??
Does resting the barrel directly onto the front rest effect accuracy, and point of impact??
Lastly, I just have to say that is one cool looking rifle.

Hi harro,

The stock/forend is anodized aluminum and I haven’t weighed it but Gene could give you the exact weights. genebeggs@cableone.net

I’ve benched more pistols and rifles than I can count and many have been sensitive to forend or barrel placement depending upon how they’re bedded, amount of recoil, barrel dimensions, weight/balance, etc. All I can tell you is that Gene’s Ultralight in centerfire doesn’t seem to exhibit any of the potential problems you might see with this type of forend set-up, so I don’t expect it to be a problem with his rimfire either.

I know Gene will expect me to be brutally honest as I wring it out and will never promote or sell a product that won’t perform. He’s that kind of guy.

My plans are to post all of my testing on my Blog, but I’m going to be very busy for the foreseeable future and I often never find the time to do everything I plan on.

Hi Wilbur,

I was speaking in general terms based on my experience with shooting either bare barrels or forends separate from the action off a front rest which may not allow the firearm to be placed consistently in the same position on the bags from shot to shot. You often end up with vertical stringing and sometimes it’s a bear to shoot uniformly if there’s no practical way to use a forend stop. Sometimes they’ll even be so far out of balance you can’t get them to shoot no matter how careful you are. I probably shouldn’t even have mentioned it because none of that is applicable in this case.

Gene’s set-up is well balanced, the forend is fixed in place, and a forend stop will insure consistent placement.

Actually I was pretty close in my guess, Not that that was a bad thing.
Sure could have used that rifle this weekend! We shot the RBA in Salem NY had a Great time. I did not have a sporter for me though. My son Mark weaseled me out of my 10.5 gun and kicked my butt! I think the results are posted elsewhere, It was my daughters first rim-fire match with flags and she did well too.
I know you must be busy now. Keep us posted.

Thankyou for replying to my questions.
Would you be able to describe or post pictures of how the forend is connected to the barrel.
Is it made from metal or some kind of plastic or synthetic material.
It appears from the pictures that the barrel has some taper to it ???
I hope you don't mind all of these questions , but in my limited experience of these things your rifle is of a design that I have not thought of, or seen before.

If it were mine I would be camped out at the range for the next two weeks .
