The official targets for the NBRSA are not an option. What you are sent when you order the targets from The NBRSA is what you use in Registered Competition. Period.
We have used the new targets in several matches this year. We used about a 50/50 mix last week end at The Louisianna State VFS.
My only complaint with the new target in Score Shooting is it is difficult to see the exact hit on the target, as the "black" of the bullet's circle is very subdued. If you shoot a lot of score, you know how important it is to know exactly where that last shot went, and why. But, if that is what The NBRSA is using, that is what we shoot.
The bullet hole size is of no consequence. Scorers know how to center a reticle, whether you are using it on a score target, or measuring a group. It is the obligation of every Match Director to be sure that his official scorer knows how to use the official scoring tool, or reticle, properly.
