Take off barrels

Hi folks,
Was wondering if anyone would know a good place to get a new take off barrel from.
I am thinking of a 25/06 in stainless and or high gloss blue for a M700 action,
that is currently a 30/06.
Of course I am working out of the USA at the moment.
Could be 24 or 26" sporter or varmint style
Would rather have stainless unless the bluing has no marks on it.
This is for hunting and target shooting only.
Thanks.

Try any of the smith here on this web site also 6mmbr.com.
Barrel makers that do smithing also may have something.
I know Jim Hart of Hart barrels does sell take off barrels to some people

I am sorry I thought, well I guess I thought everyone knew what CDNN was. They had Sako TRGS rifles years ago for 595$ I bought one, I should have bought them all. They have a lot of stuff, some times its of no intrest at all, some times its is.

I just looked and they had no 25-06 barrels, I am sure they did when I first saw the add.

Try eBay

I have bought and sold take-off barrels on eBay with good success. Barrels are not one of their banned items. Start a watch list for what you want and receive email when one comes up.

You know that you're very probably not going to be able to buy some takeoff barrel and screw it into your action and have it work?

If you were a little flexible as to the caliber and chambering, you could have a lot more to choose from. All you're really tied to is a .473" boltface diameter round and there are a TON of those. And since it is extremely unlikely that you are going to buy some takeoff barrel and have it fit (headspace) on your rifle, it will have to be worked on. So you can get it chambered for another round for not a bunch more money.

More about experiences

I sold a .22-250 26 inch takeoff with minimal round count and high accuracy on eBay. Evidently the guy was a smith or at least could headspace because within a day of receiving it he had it screwed on and was shooting little groups.

Later, I bought a Remington 722 in .257 Roberts that took forever to clean after a few rounds. The bore scope showed it looked like the surface of the moon inside. Worst I have seen. I got on eBay and found a new .243 takeoff from a 700 for fifty bucks. I hand-lapped it then sent it and the rifle to ITD Custom Gun. They expertly fitted the barrel and sent the rig back to me with a sample fired case. The cost was minimal. It shoots great and cleans up fast and I had less than $200 invested.
