I'm looking for some input about total indicated runout of a loaded round.
For those of you that are taking this measurement...
1) Where are you measuring from?
2) What are your tolerance limits?

For me, I set my "v" blocks at the base and just at the shoulder of the case. I set my dial indicator to run just behind the ojive. I look for about .0015" or under.

Using the NECO indicator I have found the solid portion just ahead of the extractor groove and the stylus is as above just behind the ojive, on the full diameter of the bullet. My best efforts and LR ammunition I strive for under .0015" to.002" and many suprisingly get there. I really believe in seating slowily to achieve best results. Additionally the amount of neck tension will affect the runout, more equals more!
