i buy all the time...part of my business...
in the past couple of weeks hazmat shipments have gone from 1/2 days to 3/4 weeks.
small pistol primers out by four of five mfg at one supplier.
in the last week ar uppers have gone from 10 days to 10 weeks.
in the last week ar lowers have gone from 2 weeks to 8 weeks.
background checks in colorado are running close to 2 days vs the normal of an hour or so.
some suppliers are no longer taking orders.
STAG is only taking orders from dealers...
from my side i drove 1000 miles to pick up some hazmat to be able to continue to sell in a timely fashion.
i have sold out at the last SIX gun shows i have worked......i run 2-3 tables...primers brass ammo ar's stuff

I ordered powder, primers and bullets amongst other things from Powder Valley and Mid South on Monday this week and BOTH shipments arrived within 30 Min. of each other Thursday afternoon. No Express or Expidited shipping on either order.

must have been a truck headed your way...because i ordered last week and still not here from powder valley......

powder valley is essentially out of primers..5 manufacture lines..a few odds and ends..is all...
widners is esesntially out on most lines..has some federals and some odds and ends...
graf and sons has some large pistol and large rifle, but small rifle and small pistol are all gone except for a few odds and ends....

two days since the first post....

I was in the local Scheel's Sporting Goods here last week and they had a few bricks of Federal primers, a couple of bricks of Winchesters, a few loose boxes and a sign that said "one brick per day" as well as a gun department that was full of people looking at mostly bolt action rifles which is about all they had along with shotguns and revolvers.

It's not only "gun people" buying more guns, there are new gun owners who are looking and wanting to buy too.

current background check time in colorado is 64 hours...that would be a bit up from the norm of 1 -2 hrs

there are no 223 ar's at the shop that make the news when guns are in the news.....

thier opinion is that about 80% of the buyers are FIRST TIME BUYERS......

THEY HAVE STACKS of un processed background checks....

powder valley has large pistol primers in some brands...
small rifle in tula
no small pistol anywhere in thier lines

widerns has some cci small pistol on strips..not much else in any brand

graf and sons has some large pistol and odds and ends...no small rifle or small pistol

Mike that 3-5 month supply may last a month, the way things are going. Just got a flyer from midway, they have 40 round AR-mags for $18 or so dollars, bet they don't have any left. Thought about buying some just to have. I don't own an AR but who knows when you might need one. HA HA

joe...
my supply is based on what is loaded for me to sell..it is a plan...so many thou per month...inspite of what they may want, my suppliers can only build so much.
there are mags and then there are mags..in the ar family it can be anything from an hk maritime to a POS usa or equivilent...some are not worth the metal they are made from.

usgi seem very good to me, tho i do have some hk's....bottom line $18 might not be worth it..even in todays market.

back to the original topic....

large pistol and large rifle primers seem to be available as is powder for mag rifle......

but anything that can be used in 9/38/40/45, 223/308 seems to be gone......
one supplier is out to 4 weeks for shipping IF it is in stock.

Wouldn't be good....trying to pick off that National Guardsman before he lit off that rocket launcher aimed at my house...and have a magazine malfunction.
